In addition to behavioral health care, Metrocare provides primary care centers for adults and children, services for veterans and their families, accessible pharmacies, housing, and supportive social services. Alongside the clinical care, researchers and teachers from Metrocare’s Altshuler Center for Education & Research are advancing mental health beyond Dallas County while providing critical workforce to the state. 

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Medical Director is responsible for psychiatric management of a large specialty mental health outpatient clinic which serves children and adolescents from the Metrocare catchment area.  The Medical Director works collaboratively with a Clinical Manager and Business Office Coordinator to complete the clinic’s management team.  The management team is responsible for all clinic operations and patient care experiences.

Remote position starting at $285K, with experienced hybrid candidates earning up to $300K.

The Medical Director supervises a team of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses who provide direct psychiatric services, including initial diagnostic evaluation and follow up medication monitoring.  The Medical Director is also responsible for providing direct care, including initial diagnostic evaluation and medication follow-up.  The Medical Director position does not require evenings or weekends and does not have on-call responsibilities.  This position has a 50% productivity requirement, with the remaining 50% for staff supervision and administrative duties.

The Medical Director may have the opportunity to serve as volunteer faculty to local medical schools, providing psychiatric training to medical students and/or residents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs initial diagnostic evaluations with medication management and follow-up medication monitoring.
  • Supervises a team of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses in accordance with Texas Administrative Code and Texas Medical Board supervisory requirements.
  • Monitors and manages productivity of the medical staff in accordance with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Monitors quality metrics in accordance with KPIs
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the Management Team to ensure that business needs of the clinic are maintained, while also supporting a trauma informed and person-centered environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate from an accredited psychiatry residency program, including a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry residency training program.
  • Board accreditation in Adult and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  • Minimum of 2 years’ managerial experience preferred.
  • Experience and expertise with utilization of electronic health records

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Intermediate math skills required.
  • Ability to work with reports and numbers.
  • Ability to work with clinical managers and business operations managers on budgets.                                                                  

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex instructions.
  • Ability to deal with situations which may involve a high degree of variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to utilize Internet for resources.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain a Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment.
  • Liability insurance is required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business.  Must be insurable by Center’s liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business.  Must have an acceptable driving record.
  • Current Texas Medical License
  • Current DEA License
  • Board Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
