Your missions

What You'll Do...

Contribute to the day-to-day activities of The Tax Institute State Regulatory Affairs (SRA) team programs, projects, and initiatives. Proactive thought leader, trusted advisor, and business partner to all our clients. Support SRA team projects and initiatives such as internal tax research questions, internal tax reference and guidance materials, tax revenue agency outreach and collaborations, government agency compliance agreements, and tax forms management

Day to day, you'll..


  • Lead outreach to state government tax agencies, ensuring questions are clearly articulated to agencies and responses are disseminated internally.
  • Lead state Letter of Intent (LOI) process. Coordinates with internal partners to ensure LOIs are submitted accurately and timely approved by state departments of revenue.
  • Assist Lead in the new and retired tax forms project.
  • Provide research support to other SRA team projects.

What You'll Bring To The Team...


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • J.D., C.P.A or Enrolled Agent (circular 230 designation).
  • Operational knowledge of tax law and regulations sufficient to understand and explain elements of personal, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, estate, and gift taxation.
  • Knowledge of tax research principles, procedures and techniques with the ability to provide plain English interpretations of complex tax laws and rules.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse work group that includes a distributed work environment.
  • Ability to perform assignments in a highly detailed and accurate manner with minimal oversight.
  • Effective project management skills to complete assignments timely; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects and manage effectively to meet timelines.
  • Demonstrated critical conceptual and intellectual skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels within the company.

Pay Range Information

The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. This information is posted pursuant to local requirements to provide applicants with information about what they might be eligible to receive. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed.

Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.

Qualifying associates can enroll themselves and/or their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage; can participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan (401(k) Plan), the Employee Assistance Program, (virtual) fitness center programs, and the associate discount program; are automatically enrolled in Business Travel Accident Insurance; and receive Associate Tax Prep benefit.
