POSITION SUMMARY

A Fixed Assets Project Supervisor plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial records of the company. The Fixed Assets Project Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the analysis of the company's capital spend in accordance with US GAAP. This requires reviewing capital spend to ensure it is capitalizable, segregating capital spend by future assets and creating assets when the project is complete. The Fixed Assets Project Supervisor will work closely with resort operational teams to understand the status and scope of capital projects. The Fixed Assets Project Supervisor will also be responsible for creating and maintaining documentation related to the fixed assets project, including policies, procedures, and guidelines. Additionally, the Fixed Assets Project Supervisor will provide regular updates and reports to management regarding the status of the cost segregation and any relevant findings or recommendations.

The Fixed Assets Project Supervisor should also have a solid understanding of accounting principles and regulations related to fixed assets, as well as proficiency in relevant software and tools used for asset management and reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Review cost segregation analysis, ensuring costs are recorded timely and accurately based on the type of spend (i.e., internal labor, external labor, equipment, etc.).
  • Meet regularly with capital project managers to understand status and scope of in-flight projects.
  • Meet regularly with resort finance teams to share results of cost segregation so that resort finance teams understand potential impact to the P&L.
  • Lead regular fixed asset audits to ensure all fixed assets listed in the fixed asset registers exist.
  • Review capital close out forms to create assets when the capital project is complete.
  • Take initiative to investigate reconciling items, or discrepancies and contact the appropriate individuals to gather information to propose and implement solutions.
  • Maintain or improve upon record retention and process documentation.
  • Participate and support, as necessary, the external audit.
  • Ensure all internal control documentation and compliance related to the above responsibilities is properly prepared.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge

  • In-depth accounting knowledge related to fixed assets capitalization criteria.
  • Proficient with ERP systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the acquire to retire accounting life cycle.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong Analytical skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with various levels of an organization.
  • Comfortable using technology, especially Microsoft Office Products.
  • Able to manage large data sets and complex formulas in Excel quickly and accurately.
  • Willing and able to teach intermediate Excel skills to staff.
  • Able to maintain a consistently high level of productivity and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn new processes.
  • Highly organized and able to track team progress/status as it relates a high volume of capital projects.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • BS in Accounting preferred.

Experience

  • 3+ years of accounting experience required.
  • Experience with cost segregation or capital close out forms required.
  • Relevant experience within a Shared Services environment is a plus.

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc. salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of the Company’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Denver area base salary range: $80,000 - $112,000 per year.
