This position provides effective legal representation that handles moderately complex litigation involving either the corporation and/or its insured within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility. Personally handles or manages litigation of a most complex nature involving either the corporation and/or its insured within established corporate guidelines, applicable standards of good faith. Position Compensation Range:

$109,000.00 - $186,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

  • Primary Accountabilities
  • Handle litigation involving either the corporation and/or its insured within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility.

  • Analyze file as litigation progresses. Evaluate cases and seeks settlement as necessary.

  • Conduct discovery (e.g. written interrogatories, requests for production of documents, and depositions).

  • Conduct motion practice.

  • Draft all necessary pleadings, papers and briefs to advance litigation. Conducts necessary research in support of drafting activities.

  • Advocates client position in all forums (state and federal court, alternative dispute resolution, administrative tribunals and regulatory hearings) and circumstances, both formal and informal.

  • Stays current on state statutes and court decisions and analyzes how statutes and court decisions affect the interpretation and enforceability of the various policy provisions.

  • May have or develop areas of specialty practice (e.g. special property, workers` compensation, environmental law, commercial coverage).


Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service

  • Demonstrated experience preparing civil pleadings, motions and discovery and deposing witnesses.

  • Demonstrated litigation experience.

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction in which they practice.

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of tort, contract, and insurance law.

  • Juris Doctor

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

  • Demonstrated Trial Experience strongly preferred

  • Previous experience handling property matters, such as construction defect and appraisal matters helpful.

Licenses

  • Admitted to Minnesota State Bar. Additional licensure in Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota a plus.


Travel Requirements

  • Up to 50%.
