Job Description

We offer a merit-based work-from-home program based on job responsibilities. After initial training in-person, you could have the flexibility of work-from-home time as defined by the leadership team.

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking motivated nursing professional to join our team. The position requires the person to:

  • Work with claim associates to assist in investigation, evaluation, and determining appropriate disposition of injury claims.
  • Work with and educate claim staff, the injured person and/or medical providers.
  • Assist the claim associates with vendors, attorneys, MCCA and others who are involved or affect the claims process.
  • Assist in identifying appropriate health care related vendors and determine if such vendors are needed or continue to be needed.
  • Negotiate rates with health care related facility vendors including nursing homes, sub-acute facilities, attendant care agencies, etc.
  • Serve as a medical resource and conduct research into medical and health care issues related to the investigation, evaluation, and disposition of injury claims.  Assist with other duties in the department, or elsewhere, on request.
  • Assist associates directly or indirectly in consultation and communication with health care providers.
  • Travel, attend seminars, and attend training classes as required.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • BSN preferred, CCNLCP or CLCP or other lifetime planner certification a plus. CIRS or CCM certification preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms, read and interpret documents, and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Above average problem resolution and communication skills. This person should be able analyze details, make decisions, demonstrate innovativeness and continually seek more efficient ways to process and handle work.
  • Strong clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, rehabilitation or trauma care is preferred.  Case management and insurance experience a plus.
