Job Description

We’re recruiting for a Scheme Underwriter t to join us. We’re offering a competitive base salary. Working in a portfolio-based team environment effectively and productively, providing unrivalled service to new and existing customers that, in turn, will drive the achievement of team shared financial targets around portfolio and business growth.

    What you'll be doing:

    • Profitably and accurately assessing risk, setting price and applying appropriate terms in keeping with Group Protections Scheme Underwriting guidelines and philosophy; work with colleagues to do this right first time
    • Ensuring work is completed within the timeframes allocated, and if not, then appropriate communication is given to the line manager, and if required, the broker / customer concerned
    • Building strong customer relationships that will assist in the delivery of financial targets, particularly the acquisition and retention of profitable business
    • Demonstrating strong leadership and ownership to ensure you and your team colleagues contribute to collective business goals and objectives across Group Protection
    • Taking a wider interest in the Group Protection business including any new products/features, other team and department developments and results
    • Organising and managing the provision of service to give sufficient priority and opportunity to customers wishing to change products, switch provider, submit a claim or make a complaint
    • Ensuring the correct application of regulations and legislation, as set by Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HRMC)

    Qualifications

    Who we're looking for:

    • A background in group protection
    • CII Group Risk Exam 
    • Relevant understanding of products, regulation, and Group Protection processes
    • Confident with Customers: Able to handle direct customer contact effectively on a range of subjects both written and oral
    • Good with technology: Must be comfortable with the use of computer-based systems including Microsoft Office
    • Highly proficient in Excel and the manipulation of data
