WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Fors Marsh is seeking an intelligent and motivated early career Data Scientist needed to join our Research Methodology Center—the company’s go to resource for quantitative methodology. This individual’s primary responsibility will be executing and supporting the research efforts of our clients. This job is best suited for an individual who enjoys research, possesses excellent attention to detail, continuously strives to learn and develop, and prefers working in a cooperative environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working collaboratively with other members of the Research Methodology Center and client facing project teams to support client needs.
  • Executing and contributing to analysis plans that outline data preparation, statistical and computational methodology, and planned goals for the interpretation of findings.
  • Managing and manipulating datasets from primary data collections and secondary data sources.
  • Preparing technical reports, presentations, and executive summaries.
  • Participating in project meetings and assisting project managers with development of research projects.
  • Ensuring quality control of quantitative research projects across research divisions.
  • Develop comprehensive analysis plans, including selecting appropriate methodologies and defining interpretation strategies to ensure accurate and actionable insights.
  • Contribute to business development efforts by assisting in the writing of a proposal’s methodology section.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics or social science (i.e., mathematics, economics, business, public policy, or related disciplines). Graduate degree preferred.
  • 3 years of applied research experience.
  • Experience with R or Stata is required; experience with other statistical software packages such as Python, and Tableau.
  • Ability to standardize programming syntax and automate syntax where applicable.
  • Initiative to expand in a specialized skillset such as programming dashboards (in R, Python, or JavaScript), cloud computing, large-scale data processing in Spark, Natural Language Processing (NLP), or Generative AI.
  • Knowledge and experience with social science research methods including best practices for surveys, experimental design, and associated statistical analyses (i.e., descriptive statistics, traditional statistical modeling, machine learning).
  • Highly self-motivated with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Applicants may be subject to a low-level government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to sensitive information.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and consent to a full background check due to our federal contract requirements.

Salary: $80,000 - $85,000
