Job Description Summary
Responsible for assisting in the creation of useful and desirable software product and service experiences for the industrial internet of things. Contributes to multiple user experience engagements and highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge across multiple specialized business domains.

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Use storyboards and narratives to express how a product or service should behave to deliver capabilities in a way that supports user, customer needs, and GE goals. These should be expressed through establishing clear mental models, and workflows delivered as wireframes.
  • Use sketching (in pencil and electronically) to experiment with multiple potential approaches to a problem. Creates annotated prototypes or wireframes of user interface designs that visually and textually communicate the behavior of a software application.
  • Design product or service behavior that creates business value for customers and GE, while meeting user needs and expressing product and corporate brand values.
  • Understand how to leverage design systems for designing and building applications.
  • Participate constructively in critiques of your own design ideas and those of others.
  • Synthesize stakeholder and user feedback to determine how a design should be evolved and refined to better meet user, customer and business needs.

Education Qualification

For roles outside USA:

Bachelor's Degree in Design with basic experience.

For roles in USA:Bachelor's Degree in Design with minimum years of experience 2 years

Desired Characteristics Technical Expertise:

  • Identify Information Architecture elements and offers input.
  • Understands and articulates a content strategy plan.
  • Understand value and activities associated with getting feedback for design ideas from users and stakeholders.
  • Understand when it is appropriate to get feedback.
  • Participate as a team member in Design Validation sessions.
  • Understand the key approaches/methods to create prototypes and when each is appropriate/necessary.
  • Create prototypes to express design concepts with guidance and consistent with GED guidelines. (e.g., using paper, Figma, Balsamiq, w/ basic HTML, Adobe Creative Cloud).
  • Understand the key variables that are manipulated to create effective visual interface designs including type, color, spacing, material.
  • Understand the process required to create well – designed visual interfaces.
  • Understand and apply GE Vernova standards and guidelines.
  • Communicate the benefits and rationale of user research.
  • Create workflows/prototypes to help facilitate user testing and feedback sessions.
  • Assist user research studies without too much guidance.
  • Understand individuals’ role and purpose in the process.
  • Actively contribute observations and insights during synthesis; identify connections to other’s observations and insights.
  • Allow data-driven solutions to emerge at the appropriate time


Business:

  • Understand GE Vernova's business priorities and how they influence key priorities for the UX team.
  • Understand how your own priorities relate to the goals and objectives for the team, for the product line, for the business and for users.



Leadership:

  • Understands the value of a rigorous, collaborative and transparent decision-making process.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to key cultural issues.
  • Ability to express UX and design concepts to collaborators on cross functional teams, by explaining the rationale and benefit of design ideas.
  • Demonstrates the ability to extract and communicate how customer groups are thinking and feeling.
  • Ability to make decisions and take actions appropriately when all available information may not be possible to obtain.
