What We Need

We are seeking an experienced Learning Specialist to enhance the performance and development of our team members. This role will focus on creating and facilitating learning experiences, developing knowledge resources, and equipping team members with the tools and resources they need to be successful in their roles.  

The ideal candidate has a strong background in learning and development, exceptional communication skills, and a strong background in the mortgage industry.   

What You'll Do

Content Development:  

  • Create learning design packages, including storyboards, swim lane diagrams, outlines, and learner journey flows.  
  • Develop brand-compliant training materials such as slide presentations, eLearning modules, guides, and job aids. Specifically, we will focus on the development of step-by-step playbooks for all roles across the organization.   
  • Perform regular maintenance of various learning assets to ensure they remain current and compliant.  
  • Create and deliver change communications to any and all impacted teams when updates are made to resources available on our knowledge hub. 

Onboarding Training and Continued Learning: 

  • Lead instructor-led courses, virtual training sessions, and webinars on various topics every week. This includes both onboarding and continuous improvement training efforts. 
  • Facilitate the role specific onboarding experience for various roles throughout the organization, ensuring smooth integration into their roles and workflows by creating and facilitating skill-based training sessions that provide team members with opportunities to practice what they have learned in the classroom. 
  • Identify competency gaps and areas for improvement across various roles and create a Continuous Improvement Training program that provides weekly CI training classes to Operations team members. 
  • Use an iterative approach and the newly identified topics from our CI training program, to continuously improve our onboarding course offerings for all operations roles. 

Mentorship:  

  • Perform peer reviews of learning resources developed by colleagues.   
  • Facilitate mentorship exercises for Learning & Enablement team members – some of whom will be new to the learning and development space. This Includes 1:1 coaching and group training on L&D best practices, methodologies, systems training and more.   

Competency and Performance Management:  

  • Conduct in class, and post training assessments to determine the effectiveness of learning programs. 
  • Foster skill-based development in the classroom by providing new team members with opportunities to work live loans in the classroom and validate they have performed their work accurately. 
  • Establish classroom performance metrics and reporting; including course scorecards, skill validation checklists, and production ramp up trackers for all operations roles. 
  • Conduct weekly performance evaluations utilizing scorecards and validation activities to identify opportunities for early intervention - allowing us to identify team members who are off track or struggling to meet performance expectations.  
  • Provide corrective action plans to team members who are off track including one-on-one coaching, creating tailored development plans for specific areas of improvement, and setting measurable milestones with defined timelines to get learners back on track. 
  • Meet team KPIs for Training Satisfaction and Graduate Success Metrics. 

Additional Responsibilities:  

  • Stay updated on learning and project management trends and methodologies.  
  • Follow internal project management standards for needs analysis and stakeholder approvals.  
  • Coordination duties such as scheduling training events, and enrolling team members in training resources.   
  • Additional responsibilities as required by business needs. 


What You Need

  • 4+ years of experience in a corporate learning and development environment. 
  • Knowledge of project and change management, methodologies, techniques, processes. 
  • Knowledge of resource management tools. 
  • Experience conducting client needs analysis and performance data analysis. 
  • Must have both facilitation and instructional design experience 
  • Must have experience documenting business processes in the form of job aids or instructional manuals 
  • Demonstrated success in coaching and mentoring team members. 
  • Ability to present material to large audiences and build learning resources. 
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills. 
  • Flexible, adaptable and resourceful when managing changing timelines and multiple deliverables. 
  • Motivated to build relationships with leaders and team members in technology, sales, marketing, compliance, strategy, and operations 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Knowledge of adult learning methodologies and providing actionable feedback. 
  • Mortgage loan origination or loan manufacturing experience is highly desired. 
  • Nice to Have:Proficiency with any the following tools: Articulate Storyline / Rise, Vyond, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Snagit, Camtasia, Jira Software, Microsoft SharePoint and/or Microsoft Forms.
