Position Summary:

Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a full-time Academic Advisor on our Fond du Lac Campus.  The Academic Advisor is responsible for the life cycle of a student from acceptance to graduation which involves initiating and sustaining communication with students in designated program areas to facilitate registration, enrollment, and overall academic support. This position focuses on retention by providing program specific information, registration guidance, career advice, and academic support through one on one meetings and referrals to appropriate support services. 

 

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in education, sociology, human services, business, or a related field. three years of related occupational experience in a post-secondary educational setting and familiarity with the needs of two-year college students.  You must possess or be willing to obtain Global Career Development Facilitator training.

 

This position is minimally funded through the Perkins Strengthening Career and Technical Education grant. This is an allocation grant awarded annually.

Responsibilities:

• Knowledge of ERP systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office 365 (Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with end users, colleagues, and management to provide a complete and timely explanation of issues and decisions to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work; analyze information, resolve problems and make recommendations.
• High degree of integrity and professionalism and a demonstrated ability to respect the confidentiality of information and demonstrate critical and systems thinking.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize special projects with routine assignments.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience in a technical college setting.
• Experience with the student information system, Banner.
• Experience with Zoom.
• Knowledge of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Any combination of necessary experience and qualifications which provides desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Hiring Range: $25.45-$29.94

Starting: Fall 2024

Workplace Flexibility: Limited work from home upon approval

Hours/Schedule/Travel: Academic: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (37.5 hours), Summer: Monday - Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (34 hours), Minimal travel to College and external partner locations.
