Position Title: Data and Strategic Solutions Consultant

Position Overview:

In this position, you will support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information & Technology (OIT), specifically within the Office of Strategy Coordination. The VA OIT’s mission is to deliver high-quality, efficient, and compassionate IT services that enhance the care provided to Veterans. As part of this team, you will play a key role in advancing the VA’s strategic IT initiatives by providing consulting services that drive organizational alignment, process improvements, and data-driven insights.

You will conduct gap analyses on existing processes, identify opportunities for efficiency, and recommend solutions to ensure the alignment of IT goals with VA’s mission of delivering world-class services to Veterans. In addition to consulting, you will provide technical expertise by developing dashboards, visualizations, and a SharePoint site that serves as a critical resource for stakeholders across the VA OIT domain. This role requires a unique blend of consulting and technical skills, supporting the VA's ongoing digital transformation and contributing to its strategic initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Consulting and Process Improvement:
    • Conduct gap analyses on existing processes and provide actionable recommendations to align IT initiatives with the VA’s strategic goals.
    • Support the development and implementation of new processes to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders across the VA OIT domain to identify strategic needs and provide consulting support to meet them.
  • Data Analysis and Visualization:
    • Analyze data to uncover trends, generate actionable insights, and provide data-driven recommendations to guide decision-making and continuous improvement.
    • Develop and maintain dashboards and visualizations using Power BI and Tableau to provide insights into the current state of projects and performance metrics.
  • Technical Support and SharePoint Development:
    • Support the implementation of strategic tools and solutions that streamline processes and enhance the VA’s IT capabilities.
    • Assist in the design and development of a SharePoint site to serve the needs of VA stakeholders, ensuring ease of use and functionality.
  • Identify and Develop Key Metrics for Performance Evaluation:
    • Design and implement effective data collection methods to evaluate project and organizational performance.
    • Analyze results to uncover trends, provide insights, and drive continuous improvement and decision-making.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in business consulting, data analysis, or a related role, with exposure to government contracting preferred.
  • Strong technical skills in Power BI, Tableau, and SharePoint development.
  • Experience developing dashboards and visualizations to communicate project performance and strategic insights.
  • Familiarity with conducting gap analyses and recommending solutions for process improvement.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting IT strategy, process improvement, or technology projects in a government setting, particularly with VA OIT or similar federal agencies.
  • Understanding of budget formulation processes and federal IT compliance requirements.
