Global Life Science Hub is partnered with an incredible biopharmaceutical company specializing in difficult-to-formulate biologics. Recently, the company has achieved 2 FDA approvals and is transitioning from R&D to a full-scale commercial organization looking to build a new state-of-the-art facility in New Jersey as they ramp up production efforts from 50L to 2000L in Q4.

We are searching for a passionate on-site Upstream Processing Scientist in NJ who has solid cell culture expertise to support the scale-up manufacturing efforts. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with CHO cells and perfusion-based bioreactor systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute upstream batches, including mammalian cell culture with a focus on CHO cell lines.
  • Design, optimize, and troubleshoot cell culture processes in batch, fed-batch, and perfusion bioreactor systems.
  • Maintain and scale up cell culture operations to support clinical and commercial manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transfer processes from development to GMP manufacturing.
  • Perform cell culture maintenance, monitoring, and harvesting in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Analyze data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to project teams.
  • Implement continuous improvements in bioprocessing techniques to enhance productivity and product quality.
  • Adhere to safety and regulatory guidelines to ensure a high-quality manufacturing environment.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • BSc/MSc within a life science related field with 3+ years experience in a pharma/biotech organization
  • Expertise in mammalian cell culture with a focus on CHO cells
  • Experience with perfusion bioreactors
  • Previous background in bioreactor operations including scale-up from Clinical to Commercial
  • Strong familiarity with GMP regulations
