Design Engineer – Equipment Automation 

Remote position 
Compensation $120k (flexibility for an increase in compensation)

Job Overview: 

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Design Engineer to lead the development,
qualification and deployment of next-generation high-speed printing systems integrating
with reverse osmosis-membrane manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will have a
proven track record in the design and implementation of manufacturing equipment,
experience in web handling, and expertise in automation and system integration. This
role involves conceptualization of innovative design solutions, coordinating with
equipment vendors, ensuring seamless integration of the equipment within the broader
manufacturing process, and applying efficient project management.

Design and Conceptualization:

  • 1. Develop a thorough understanding of current and future processes and technology, and its
  • advantages and limitations.
  • 2. Lead the conceptualization of innovative and efficient printer equipment design
  • concepts tailored for water filtration applications, with an emphasis on process
  • speed and reliability.
Expertise in Automation:
  • 1. Apply expertise in automation to optimize the integration of automated processes
  • within equipment design.
  • 2. Implement solutions for efficient and precise automated functions.
Feasibility Analysis:
  • 1. Conduct thorough feasibility studies to assess the technical and economic viability
  • of proposed designs, emphasizing automated processes.
  • 2. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and address specific challenges
  • related to water filtration membranes, printing, and automation.
Prototyping and Testing:
  • 1. Build and test prototypes to validate the functionality and efficiency of the design.
  • 2. Analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and iteratively improve designs.
  • Materials and Components Selection:
  • 1. Specify appropriate materials and components for the equipment design,
  • considering compatibility with water filtration requirements and automation
  • components.
  • 2. Ensure designs comply with industry standards and regulations related to water
  • filtration, printing, and automation.

Collaboration:

  • 1. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers,
  • electrical engineers, water filtration specialists, and automation experts.
  • 2. Effectively communicate with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide
  • updates on project progress.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • 1. Participate in design reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of
  • equipment design, with a focus on automation.
  • 2. Stay informed about advancements in automation technology and its applications.
Documentation:
  • 1. Prepare detailed documentation, including design specifications, engineering
  • drawings, and technical reports.
  • 2. Maintain accurate records of design iterations, changes, and adaptations of
  • process equipment.
Regulatory Compliance:
  • 1. Ensure that equipment designs meet relevant industry standards, safety
  • regulations, and certifications related to water filtration, printing, and automation.
  • 2. Stay abreast of regulatory changes impacting all relevant technologies.
Qualifications:
  • 1. Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical
  • Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2. Proven experience in equipment design, with a focus on production equipment,
  • web handling, and automation. Familiarity with large-format printing is a plus.
  • 3. Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
  • 4. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • 5. Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • 6. Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • 7. Talent to innovate and think “Out-of-the-box”
