Position Overview:

Represents Sutter Health and provides and manages the planning and programming and oversees the provision of architectural services for capital improvement projects. Establishes the key capital project constraints, including scope budget and schedule definitions that support the business plan and become the basis for expectations that the project shall be measured against. Ensures consistent, quality facility planning and programming processes and use of building standards. Provides timely input into business and master plan development. Collaboratively engages the entity in planning the facility with an eye towards effective patient management. Translates strategic planning demand/capacity models and optimized care models into spatial constraints or programs and leads the development of building system plans and design standards. Helps develop and review projects-specific requests for proposal (RFPs), offering selection recommendations of vendors. The position may also apply to planning service line subject matter expert staff in the areas of physical access compliance, mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems engineering, entitlements/land use, standards development and management, or medical equipment/furniture planning.

  • Bachelor's: Architecture, interior design, health planning, healthcare sciences, or related field

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 8 years recent relevant experience


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Well versed in architectural and/or building systems concepts, health care construction building codes and regulations, space programming and allocation cost analysis, construction processes and procedures, and contract negotiation.
  • Knowledgeable in the State of California building approval processes including Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD), the State Fire Marshall, and municipal discretionary approvals, as well as The Joint Commission (TJC) regulations.
  • Thorough understanding of project coordination/management, budgeting and scheduling concepts and procedures, and the process of project planning, design and construction.
  • Knowledgeable in current trends in healthcare facility development and facility designs impacting patient care and operating efficiency.
  • Consultative skills to gather needs and translate requests into potential solutions.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, management techniques and technical knowledge.
  • Client relationship management skills to maintain positive relations between facility planning and entity leadership.
  • Ability to team with staff across multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage and balance multiple interests, build consensus among a wide range of stakeholders, delegate appropriate tasks to technical and non-technical support personnel and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member and achieve designated goals and objectives.
  • Ability to provide project site supervision.
  • MEP systems engineering subject matter expert (SME) should be capable of providing engineering support on more than 10 concurrent projects with an aggregate project cost exceeding $100,000,000.00.
  • Entitlements/Land use, standards development and management, and medical equipment/furniture planning SMEs must be conversant and capable of competently providing either individually or as support staff general facility planning/capital project accountabilities on more than 10 concurrent projects with an aggregate project cost exceeding $100,000,000.00 of the MEP systems engineer SME.

Pay Range is $75.45 to $120.72 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
