What you’ll be doing...
  • Providing technical support and project management for the design, acquisition, and implementation for all equipment supporting Network infrastructure projects including, but not limited to DWDM and

  • SONET Optical transport systems deployed throughout the VZW Network or Microwave point-to point or point to multi-point installations.

  • Complete Vendor Management responsibility including selection, contract negotiation, RFP and ongoing relationships.

  • Financial responsibility for multi-million dollar projects – establishing business cases, developing and managing budgets, procurement and bill payments.

  • The position regularly works with Network planning on strategic initiatives, and features and growth jobs on existing products that support our infrastructure.

  • The position regularly works with other group’s forecasts to ensure equipment growth projects meet expectant demands in support of the company’s objectives.

  • Vendor Management responsibility including engineering/design, managing budgets, procurement, and complete project management ensuring objectives

  • are met in accordance with stated timelines.

  • This job also may include being tasked with the development of an engineering database for documentation of all fiber assets; plant, FDP panels, and IRU contract management. Microwave design/review.

What we’re looking for...
  • Bachelor’s degree or two or more years of work experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

  • This position will be a standard, 8 hour, 8-5 type role, Monday through Friday.

You’ll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • A Bachelor’s degree.

  • 5-7 years of experience in the cellular/telecommunications industry in a Transport engineering role preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience with Granite circuit database/CND

  • Ability to learn databases to manage projects in a timely manner

  • DWDM Optical Transport systems including: ALU/Nokia 7705, 7750, 7250 routers

  • Digital Communications including: Fiber, Ethernet

  • HUB, fiber design: Ability to design hub/spoke for network hardening

  • Microwave experience including: ALU/Nokia MPR9500

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Understand circuit layouts, ability to extract data, and update existing circuit designs

  • IP Routing and subnetting.

  • In depth knowledge and advanced proficiency in CWDM/DWDM Optical Transport systems including: Ciena, Alcatel-Lucent

  • Familiarity with Dark Fiber vendors, their organizational processes and standards, as well as their network portfolio maps is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Pathloss 5 microwave design software

  • Proficient in office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $79,000.00 and $146,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
