Job Description

The Position

This position will support the Director, Patient Access by providing product reimbursement expertise and by managing the development and day to day responsibilities of specific product patient/reimbursement support programs. The role may also manage program-specific affordability solutions, including coupons, vouchers, and/or other access-related savings offers.

This position is responsible for the development and deployment of reimbursement support “hubs” and partners with the brand teams and assigned agencies to ensure that all offerings meet the brand and organizational objectives.  This position will also be responsible for managing the daily operations of inline hubs, including vendor relationships as well as staffing, budget, maintaining current business rules, and ensuring website and resources are accurate and complete.  The “hubs” provide reimbursement and access support operations to consumers and health care providers and are managed by vendors that perform benefits investigations and other related support.  Their purpose is to help ensure that patients and physicians understand coverage and assist providers with navigating any reimbursement challenges.  

As the Company continues to evolve into more specialty and/or infused and injected products, these hubs will play an increasingly indispensable and critical element for successful marketing, by helping consumers and health care providers navigate an increasingly complex reimbursement environment.

Developing and managing hubs requires a varied set of skills:

  • Provide the strategic framework and guidance in the development and deployment of patient access and support “hubs” for specialty products, including for upcoming US launches of our Company's products.

  • Build and manage relationships with vendors who will perform benefits investigations and other related support to help ensure that patients and health care providers understand coverage and to assist patients with affordability options for our Company's medications.

  • Work closely with legal and regulatory departments to ensure compliance with internal and external rules for all programs.

  • Development of annual strategies and tactics plan, seeking input and guidance from brand team; provide ongoing strategic support and recommendations to brand teams.

  • Engage with United-States Commercial teams to educate them on the potential shape of such programs, determine what features are important and feasible, select, contract and set up programs with vendors, work with legal, and other parts of the organization, as needed.

  • Exhibit ownership and accountability for all projects and internal assignments.

  • Provide marketplace feedback in a timely manner to management, on customer business trends, competitive updates and industry issues and opportunities.

US Reimbursement:  The position provides in-house US reimbursement consultancy to assist key stakeholders in understanding the reimbursement environment for hospital, “buy and bill,” Medicare Part B reimbursed pharmaceuticals, as well as those covered under pharmacy benefits and/or acquired via Specialty Pharmacy. This position will support US product launch teams with billing and coding needs, including vendor management when appropriate. 

Affordability Solutions (Coupons/Vouchers/PAP): As part of the broader patient support hub, many programs involve affordability solutions, including coupons, vouchers, and/or referrals to Organon’s Patient Assistance Program (PAP). This role helps manage relationships with the various third-party vendors that oversee these programs and must continually monitor the effectiveness of each program’s savings offers to ensure broad patient access to Organon products.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, executes, and monitors effectiveness of product-specific “hubs” and savings offers (coupons/vouchers) in a manner that is consistent with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Consults with legal and compliance on a regular basis to ensure appropriate program operations.

  • Executes appropriate agreements with recipient organizations, securing all necessary approvals.

  • Provides management support for specified activities associated with PAP through which certain medicines are provided free of charge to eligible individuals, who, without assistance, could not afford their medications.

  • Ensures adherence to the Company’s code of conduct, values, standards and polices, as well as program legal and compliance requirements and governance.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • BA/BS

  • Minimum of five (5) years in Pharmaceutical Marketing or Sales, Pricing, Market Access, Legal, Finance or related fields supporting Pharmaceutical Marketing and Sales.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, proven leadership and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in leading cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to work independently, exercise good judgement, and manage concurrent, time-sensitive activities.

  • Demonstrated organizational and multi-tasking skills and effective time/program management.

  • Knowledge of the US payer landscape and regulatory environments.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills

  • MS, MBA, JD, PhD or other advanced degree.

  • Strong financial analysis and project management.

  • Strong proficiency in benchmarking practices, assessing risks, developing culture and supporting organizational change. 

  • Working knowledge of forecasting systems/ supply planning/demand management.

  • Experience with patient advocacy initiatives.

  • Previous agency/vendor management skills.

Annualized Salary Range (US)

$124,000.00 - $210,700.00
