Description

Join a leading staffing agency committed to providing top-notch professionals to facilities across the country. We are currently seeking experienced Inpatient Coding Specialists to join our Health Information Management team remotely (except for candidates from CA, NY, NJ, CO, OR, and HI).

As a Coding Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work on coding assignments for inpatient admissions from various discharge departments, including but not limited to Postpartum, Newborn, Cardiac ICU, and Neurosciences.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic/procedure PCS codes on clinical encounters in accordance with regulatory and CMS Official Guidelines for coding and reporting.
  • Provide intermediate Clinical inpatient support and collaborate with Health Information Management leadership.
  • Proficiently translate diagnostic statements and other pertinent documentation to ensure coding accuracy.
  • Identify appropriate charges based on documentation and coding guidelines.
  • Work with HIM staff to clarify ambiguous or incomplete documentation to obtain necessary information for coding purposes.
  • Adhere to Health Information Management (HIM) Coding policies and apply American Hospital Association (AHA) Official Coding Guidelines.
  • Maintain coding certification and stay updated on current ICD-10-CM coding guidelines and regulatory changes.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives as assigned.

Skills And Certifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of previous inpatient coding experience is required.
  • Experience in acute care facility and/or Trauma Level II coding is preferred.
  • AAPC, AHIMA, or Certified Coding credential (excludes apprenticeship classification) is required.
