Description

We're inviting you to be a part of our expanding team in Bedford Park, just a mile south of Midway Airport. In this role, you will be an integral part of our team, working both independently and collaboratively to ensure top-notch service for our policyholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain expertise in coverage, exposures, rating plans, and state requirements.
  • Underwrite and price new and renewal accounts with thorough documentation in a timely manner.
  • Process new business policies, endorsements, and renewals efficiently.
  • Manage financial aspects of accounts, including sending monthly billing invoices and handling phone payments as needed.
  • Respond promptly to agent inquiries and provide excellent service.
  • Monitor account and agency loss ratios, making recommendations on agency terminations or re-underwriting programs as needed.
  • Review daily claims and communicate effectively with agents regarding any issues.
  • Stay updated on rating, pricing, guidelines, and forms for your assigned specialty lines of business.
  • Think ahead about new products and business segments or states to explore.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and company programs.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experienced with industry resources and databases.
  • Knowledgeable in carrier billing and processing systems; familiarity with PTS and AS400 is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask.
  • Capable of working independently while also thriving in a collaborative environment.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Commercial Lines Underwriting, with expertise in Commercial Auto (Taxi, Livery, Para Transit) and Commercial General Liability (Contractors and OL&T).
  • Strong understanding of the property and casualty insurance industry.
  • Strategic thinker with a solid grasp of 1st dollar and deductible pricing strategies.

  • Professional Designations (CPCU, ARM, etc.).
