We are seeking a passionate and dynamic individual to serve as an Employment & Litigation Counsel based out of Philippines. This is a remote working role which will report to and support the ASIA Senior Director, Employment and Litigation. This counsel will serve as a key legal advisor on a wide range of employment law and litigation matters throughout Asia and will lead and manage the company’s global employee hotline. This role will be leveled at a Senior Manager or Director level depending on experience.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide business-oriented and practical counsel and guidance to human resources, operations, and other teams on various labor and employment laws as well as strategies for risk mitigation

  • Manage and/or handle employment litigation, pre-litigation (SeNA), threat of litigation

  • Engage, direct, and interface with outside counsel as needed

  • Advice and/or negotiate as appropriate the resolution of employment related disputes and claims

  • Monitor and manage company’s global employee hotline with paralegal support. Audit and monitor investigation closure reports, provide analysis and trends, organize and lead review meetings, identify  publish periodic dashboard for the HR team, organize meetings and discuss various trends and analysis related to complaints

  • Draft, review and/or approve employment-related documents, such as employment contracts, settlement agreements, policies, procedures, etc.

  • Develop and deliver training on relevant labor laws and issues across Philippines, and other geographies across South East Asia, South Asia, Asia Pacific

  • Review and provide legal guidance and support to Notice to Explain, Notice of Decision and other disciplinary processes

  • Support and lead investigation processes on various labor and fraud matters, including investigating employee/business concerns, and supervising/reviewing investigations and reports

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned from time to time

Requirements: 

  • Bar admission and in good standing to practice law in the Philippines. 

  • 5+ years of experience as an attorney specializing in handling labor laws and litigation 

  • Experience of working with a law-firm and/or with an in-house legal department.

  • Experience of managing and advising on a company’s employee hotline program.

  • Experience in working with BPOs, KPOs, BPM, IT/ITES companies is a plus. 

  • Soft skills: Problem solving aptitude, strong ethics, good sense of humor, ability to adapt, ability to unlearn and learn, and a strong team player.
