Your missions

Description

Are you a seasoned accounting professional with a passion for leadership and financial transformation? In this role, you will oversee the corporate accounting and reporting team, ensuring compliance with statutory and accounting standards. You will play a key role in preparing financial statement analytics, providing insightful management reporting, and leading initiatives that drive Finance and Accounting transformation efforts.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements and implement new accounting and regulatory guidance specific to the workers’ compensation insurance industry.
  • Lead and manage the accounting team, focusing on all aspects of statutory accounting.
  • Oversee the production and timely filing of Annual and Quarterly Statutory financial exhibits and state filings.
  • Collaborate with the VP, Corporate Controller to enhance statutory reporting, including surplus management and underwriting company utilization.
  • Maintain compliance and guidelines across various accounting functions, such as premiums, losses, reinsurance, accounts receivable, commissions, and investments.
  • Serve as a thought leader in internal controls over financial reporting (SOX) and process management.
  • Spearhead Finance and Accounting transformation projects, identifying opportunities for improvement and establishing success metrics.
  • Manage system changes and implementation projects across the Accounting and Finance departments.
  • Develop and maintain monthly financial reports for executive leadership, including income statements and balance sheets.
  • Act as a liaison with key business functions, including Claims, Pricing Actuaries, Financial Planning, and Treasury.
  • Lead statutory audits and collaborate with departments of insurance in various states.
  • Support both internal and external audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Insurance Accounting.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience with proven managerial leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Financials.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills.
  • Advanced analytical abilities.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Ability to align strategy with financial planning.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking with the ability to drive results.
  • Strong influencing skills across the organization, including with top executives.
  • Experience working with and managing external consultants.
  • Ability to work independently in an ambiguous environment.
  • Experience managing external auditors and insurance examiners.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA certification (preferred but not required).

Work Environment

  • Remote: This role is fully remote and open to candidates in the United States who can work without sponsorship, requiring a private workspace.
  • Work Hours: Schedules may be adjusted based on the position’s needs.
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required for off-site meetings.

Salary Range
