About The Role

We are expanding our Investment Planning Services team and seeking an Investment Associate to join our Investment Management unit. This role will involve supporting quantitative research and asset allocation analysis for our advisory model portfolios.

In this position, you will use a data-driven approach to conduct investment research, capital markets analysis, and portfolio management. You will help develop and manage our investment infrastructure, contributing to investment themes and asset allocation strategies throughout the lifecycle of model portfolio management. Some travel to agent offices and conferences nationwide may be required.

Remote and Hybrid Options

Qualified candidates may be considered for 100% remote work if located outside our hub locations. Those in or near our hub locations should plan to work both from home and in the office as part of a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

As an Investment Associate, you will:

  • Contribute to modeling and forecasting Capital Market Assumptions (CMAs), including reviewing current academic and practitioner research.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) for advisory model portfolios, including portfolio optimization, Monte Carlo simulation, factor modeling, and market analysis.
  • Participate in Manager Research and Selection (MR&S) for Exchange-Traded Funds and Mutual Funds.
  • Support ongoing Portfolio Management functions using our investment models, systems, and software.
  • Lead the generation and maintenance of investment reports, data sets, and performance reporting.
  • Assist with model portfolio trading and rebalancing, and oversee the process.
  • Collaborate with team members and internal departments to execute publications and collateral regularly and on an ad hoc basis.
  • Provide general support on various projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; a completed degree is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in asset management or wealth management, focusing on asset allocation, portfolio management, or research.
  • 3+ years of direct experience with multi-asset portfolio management and quantitative investment research.
  • Strong analytical skills and a broad understanding of market trends.
  • Detailed knowledge of securities, including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs, and alternative investments.
  • Solid understanding of investment advisory business and program types.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in a dynamic team environment.
  • FINRA Series 7 and 66 required or willingness to obtain shortly after hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, financial engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Progress towards or completion of the CFA charter or a comparable designation.
  • 3+ years of experience with third-party investment and risk management systems (e.g., MSCI Barra, Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar Direct).
  • 3+ years of experience in investment strategy, manager due diligence, and oversight of investment strategies.
  • Programming skills (e.g., C++, Python, Matlab) and experience with complex data models in Excel are desirable.
