Role Summary

The Oncology Research Unit (ORU) Research Alliances (RA) group within the Discovery Technologies (DT) department delivers integrated external alliance, resource, and financial management solutions to accelerate the ORU research portfolio by leverage external innovation, expertise, and resources, building and strengthening external partnerships, and developing and executing outsourcing strategies. The RA Data Analytics Senior Associate will have a strong data analytics and project management background with contemporary knowledge of research operations in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. You will play a critical role in transforming scientific operations and financial data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making for the RA group. You will collaborate with RA and other DT teams to identify key business questions, design analytical frameworks, and deliver high-quality data solutions for ORU. Your expertise in data manipulation, analysis, and visualization will be crucial in supporting business initiatives and optimizing performance for Research Alliances activities. The RA Data Analytics Senior Associate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with a willingness to solve complex business objectives thru iterative problem solving.


ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze and interpret data related to external research activities (e.g., partner metrics, study performance, resource utilization, financial spend, risk assessment) and internal/external research workflows (e.g., compound logistics, SAR assays). Uncover trends, patterns, and insights from complex datasets that ensure strong integration across internal and external activities and inform business strategies and decision-making
  • Develop and maintain external research request, tracking, and management tools
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to effectively communicate analytical findings
  • Collaborate with the RA team members to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure alignment with strategic goals
  • Provide data-driven insights to support contract negotiations, budgeting, and resource allocation for external research initiatives
  • Conduct financial forecasting and scenario analysis to inform decision-making and risk management
  • Utilize artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to model and predict key business outcomes to accelerate and improve decision-making
  • Serve as a data analytics process and tool coach for research Alliances team members


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS life sciences degree with 3+ years experience in a data analytics role within pharmaceutical/biotech research organization
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint, etc.), collaboration and work management tools (e.g, SmartSheet), and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, DAX, R, or similar programming languages
  • Solid understanding of drug discovery research, external research partnerships, and financial management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Strong project management and process improvement skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data findings into actionable insights
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in managing or supporting external research partnerships
  • Internal knowledge of our processes, systems and organization considered a plus
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and big data technologies


The annual base salary for this position ranges from $74,900.00 to $124,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in our Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary. Our compensation structures and benefit packages are aligned based on the location of hire. The United States salary range provided does not apply to Tampa, FL or any location outside of the United States.
