Seasonal Specialty Coffee Barista in Hoonah, Alaska

Description

We are seeking a friendly and skilled Barista to join our team for the upcoming season. In this role, you will focus on crafting specialty coffee and tea beverages, providing exceptional customer service, and assisting with various tasks in our bustling snack bar.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve high-quality coffee and tea beverages, following our recipes and presentation standards.
• Operate our point-of-sale (POS) system to process customer orders and payments accurately.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized workspace, adhering to health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
• Provide outstanding customer service with a smile, even during busy periods.
• Stay calm under pressure and support your teammates in other stations as needed.
• Continuously expand your knowledge of coffee specialty drinks and techniques.
• Follow our guiding principles to ensure the best, most authentic, and profitable service.
• Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Communicate effectively and positively with guests, coworkers, and management.
  
  

Qualifications

• Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods, walk long distances, and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Capable of bending, stretching, kneeling, and squatting as needed.
• Comfortable working in a noisy environment with various aromas present.
• Willing to live and work in a remote, rural community, with travel by small plane or ferry required.
• Able to navigate gravel roads and inclement weather conditions.
• Quick learner who can understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Team-oriented and able to adapt to shifting priorities under pressure.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This role requires prolonged standing, frequent walking, and the ability to lift and carry heavy objects. You will be working in a fast-paced environment with potential noise and odors. The job site is located in a remote area, requiring travel by small plane or ferry, and navigation of gravel roads in varying weather conditions.
