Job description

Remote in the United States, Brazil, Canada, or Mexico

Mercy For Animals aims to end industrial animal agriculture by constructing a just and sustainable food system. We envision a world where animals are respected, protected, and free.

As a leading farmed animal advocacy organization, we know that achieving this goal requires a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative work environment—one that welcomes and sparks new perspectives and innovative ideas. If you are passionate about our mission, driven to make a big impact for animals, and eager to be part of a dedicated team, join us!

We currently seek a global vice president of corporate engagement to join our global team. In this role, you will develop and ensure execution of the global corporate engagement strategy, which secures the adoption and implementation of corporate policies that significantly reduce suffering for farmed animals. You will also oversee related grants as well as manage and integrate teams across multiple regions for maximum campaign impact.

You will do invaluable work:

  • Provide strategic leadership and management for Mercy For Animals’ global corporate engagement program, guiding and empowering the team to achieve organizational goals
  • Oversee the development of grant proposals associated with the program
  • Oversee the management of secured grants, ensuring proper allocation and tracking of restricted funds to meet donor requirements and organizational objectives
  • Innovate and implement effective strategies for engaging major food companies to secure meaningful animal welfare policies and more plant-forward menus and product lines
  • Develop and execute strategies for ensuring implementation of corporate policies secured by the campaigns team or in coalition
  • Identify high-priority regions and targets annually, focusing on areas with the greatest potential for impact
  • Offer strategic support and mentorship to regional corporate engagement teams and managing directors, ensuring alignment of key metrics, tools, processes, and strategies across regions
  • Facilitate cross-sharing of best practices while respecting regional autonomy in terms of specific approaches, tone, and priorities
  • Work closely with the investigations, public engagement, organizing, government affairs, and development teams to ensure corporate campaigns and relations strategies harmonize with Mercy For Animals’ overall strategy
  • Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with other nonprofit organizations, aligning strategies to collectively advance animal welfare improvements and plant-forward policies at major food companies
  • Cultivate respectful and cordial relationships with major corporations and key executives
  • Identify and proactively pursue opportunities to enhance processes, tools, metrics, and collaboration across departments and regions to drive increased organizational impact
  • Partner with the development team to write grants, manage grant implementation, and meet with major donors to cultivate relationships
  • Serve as a media spokesperson for Mercy For Animals as necessary
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Your qualifications will take our campaigns team to the next level:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in corporate affairs, supply chain management, corporate social responsibility, campaigning, advocacy, or a closely related area
  • Exceptionally strong work ethic and drive to succeed
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Thorough understanding of the food industry and key farmed animal welfare issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally and persuasively
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and relationships
  • Willingness and ability to travel with moderate frequency
  • Experience writing grants, managing grants, and engaging with major funders (preferred)
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization
  • Commitment to continued personal and organizational growth in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice principles
