Job description

About Us

At SimplePractice, our team is dedicated to improving the health and wellness industry by building a suite of innovative solutions for practitioners and their clients. Our product supports practitioners on their clinical journey to becoming licensed, helps them manage their business and practice once they’re up and running, and enables new clients to discover and interact with practitioners. Taking a practitioner-first approach in everything we do makes it possible for health and wellness practitioners to devote more time to their clients while they use SimplePractice to start, grow, and maintain a successful private practice.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Senior Director - Data will lead a multidisciplinary data organization that supports internal and in-product needs across Data infrastructure, Analytics and Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.

This team supports internal analytics needs across marketing, customer success and product, and will also build out the infrastructure to support our product features based on data including customer reports, insights and AI driven features.

This is a transformative role - leading the team from a strong analytics expertise to expand into ML and product. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in one or more of the data disciplines, be fluent in the others and lean into the business to understand our product and how our customers use it. The key priorities of this role for 2025 are:

  1. Provide top tier analytics support for the rest of the business through a combination of custom analysis and self service tooling. As a PLG company, near real time analytics is critical for optimizing our conversion flow.
  2. Lead the next generation data infrastructure initiative to build a consolidated, efficient data and ML platform to support both our internal analytics needs as well as our growing in-product feature needs to surface insights to our customers.
  3. Evangelize and lead Data and specifically AI across the company. Provide thought leadership on where AI can be applied to our product and lead our AI governance efforts.

Trust is an important value for us and critical to our mission to help private practice thrive - this role includes stewardship of that trust in how we gather, secure and use customer and application data. Representing the customer in how we use, store and access data is table stakes for this role.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Data Infrastructure Engineers, Data Analysts and Data Scientists
  • Partner with other internal stakeholders on analytics and data insights
  • Work with Product Management on Data informed product features
  • Understand customer data to understand how our product helps them thrive
  • Own the data strategy and roadmap
  • Evangelize Data and ML usage across the company
  • Lead our AI initiatives including philosophy, governance, strategy and vision
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Previous leadership roles with large scale and innovative data organizations
  • Proven expertise with Analytics, ML or Data Infrastructure
  • Experience with data privacy in healthcare or other regulated industries
  • Track record of partnership with GTM and Product organizations
  • SMB and PLG experience
