Employee Relations Specialist (UK, Ireland and/or USA) 

Day Rate Contractor - Ad Hoc Case Management (outside of IR35), fully remote 

Job Overview 

We are looking for an Employee Relations Specialist to manage cases on an ad hoc basis, covering the UK, Ireland and the USA. We can consider applicants that have knowledge and experience in only one of these jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities: 

Employee Relations Case Management: 

  1. Handle and resolve complex employee relations issues, including grievances, disputes, performance management and disciplinary actions. 
  2. Ensure all employee relations cases are managed consistently and in line with local employment laws (UK, Ireland, USA). 
  3. Conduct thorough investigations, document findings, and recommend actions. 

Compliance and Legal Support: 

  • Ensure compliance with relevant labor laws and regulations (UK Employment Law, Irish Employment Law, and US Federal and State Labor Laws). 
  • Advise managers and HR partners on employment laws, company policies, and best practices to minimize legal risks. 
  • Coordinate with legal counsel on employment-related matters, when necessary. 

Policy Development and Communication: 

  • Assist in developing, updating, and interpreting HR policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with local laws and cultural differences in the UK, Ireland, and the USA. 
  • Coach and advise managers and employees on company policies, workplace standards, and ER best practices. 

Conflict Resolution and Mediation: 

Act as a mediator in employee disputes to reach amicable solutions and maintain a harmonious working environment. 

Provide expert guidance on resolving workplace conflicts and fostering positive employee relations. 

Performance and Disciplinary Actions: 

  • Advise managers on handling performance issues, implementing performance improvement plans (PIPs), and conducting disciplinary actions fairly and legally. 
  • Support exit processes, including terminations and redundancy situations, ensuring compliance with local legal requirements. 

Data Reporting and Analysis: 

  • Track and analyze employee relations metrics (grievances, disputes, disciplinary cases) and report trends to senior leadership. 
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data to improve workplace culture and employee satisfaction. 

Education and Experience: 

  • Strong understanding of UK, Irish, and/or US employment law, including best practices and legal compliance. 

Skills: 

  • Strong conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple employee relations cases in different jurisdictions simultaneously. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees at all levels. 
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
