About Us

Bilby is a Hong Kong-based technology company that scrapes and processes publicly available data from different countries to detect and analyze government policy developments, understand their impact on financial markets and client business operations, and quantify the associated risks and opportunities. Our CEO, Dr. Ryan Manuel, is a world expert on Chinese government policy development and its bearing on markets, with deep academic and industry experience. Our CTO, Dr. Stephen Enright-Ward, is a mathematician turned technologist with ten years of experience in commercial applications of NLP and ML. We are a focused, fast-moving company that values people who can gracefully combine idea generation, analytic rigor, and timely execution, and who communicate clearly and graciously with their teammates.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a search system using Elasticsearch. This involves writing complex queries and tuning the search to achieve relevant results and optimal performance.
Leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) and wrangle OpenAI or the equivalent to make calls and create smart summaries for search results and other information.
Collaborate with a full stack engineer to deliver a product, providing research support and technical expertise.
Conduct ML research to cluster documents and summarise them.
Conduct research to enable searches for nodes close to a graph database and develop solutions for their practical application.

Qualifications

Proven experience with Elasticsearch and writing complex Elasticsearch queries.
Strong understanding of AI models and their applications, particularly LLMs and OpenAI.
Experience in data analysis and interpretation, including research on analysis of clusters and graph daycare searches.
Experience in BigQuery and Neo4J for handling large datasets and graph database management, respectively. Quick learners are also highly appreciated.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
Experience working in a collaborative software development environment.
