Project description

Good Shepherd Mission Hospital (GSH) in Eswatini has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Health Communications Specialist. GSH is the only referral hospital for the Lubombo region, serving a population of more than 250,000, and it is currently going through a management transition. GSH has identified a need for support to assist in the change management process and effectively improve communication throughout the organization.

The PCRV will support GSH in designing internal communication tools and SOPs and guide the communications department and the hospital at large to effectively conduct health campaigns and other resource awareness activities. The PCRV will also review and support management in updating the crisis management plan

Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Eswatini together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field
  • 2 years’ experience of working in either a public affairs or media relations department
  • Experience in delivering media relations and stakeholder engagement across multiple audiences and channels to build effective networks and relationships
  • Flexibility in working for under resourced settings
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and high level of flexibility
