Job Description

Associate Director, Logistics Business Operations and Strategy is responsible for leading the enterprise Logistics organization to top tier performance by working with internal and external stakeholders to optimize our overall network to become more standardized and efficient. Drives the business operation process improvements and strategies to deliver and support business growth plans.   This individual will be the primary thought leader for driving optimization efforts, continuous improvement projects, productivity improvements, metrics development, and overall asset utilization across our network. This leader will drive best practices, standardization, analytics, project delivery, optimization initiatives.  The role works collaboratively with all Regional Warehouse leaders, Real Estate, Master Data Transportation, Network Optimization, Planning, Procurement, Quality, Finance, Customer Logistics, and Sales.

Principal Responsibilities

  • 40%– Responsible for driving the enterprise Logistics strategic initiatives and project execution efforts. Accountable for developing and executing the strategies that will deliver an optimized and standardized network.  Leads and supports key project initiatives improving productivity, facility standardization, site utilization, while maintaining an optimal cost profile. Drives cross functional end to end supply chain interdependencies ensuring seamless project delivery. 
  • 35% - Identifies and supports end to end business operation and process improvements efforts. Drives network productivity, standardization, and efficiencies improvements.  Leads the analytics of key data streams identifying insights that will drive strategic direction across Logistics. Acts as a liaison between the business operations and operational teams driving execution within the network to improve processes and/or costs.
  • 25% - Provides overall enabler and capital program governance for the Logistics organization.  Leads cross functional teams partnering with the Regional Warehouse leaders, Real Estate, Transportation, Network Optimization, Planning, Procurement, Quality, Finance, Customer Logistics, and Sales to achieve enabler goals and capital project execution.  Leads and supports enablers projects to achieve annual goals. Leads Capital planning and project execution to achieve annual goals.

Job Complexity / Scope

  • Strong project management capabilities with the ability to manage/influence change.
  • Delivers against financial Logistic targets and budgets.
  • Ability to develop and gain alignment for complex business cases.
  • Serve as the executional program leader to drive strategic logistics initiatives optimizing end to end supply chain costs.
  • Leads, governs, and influences the logistics enabler program and capital planning/ execution processes
  • Serve as a key subject matter expert (SME) for the overall Logistics team, analyzing key data streams for insights that will drive strategic direction and a funnel of optimization opportunities.
  • Develops systemic solutions to drive the data analysis and business outcomes.
  • Establish critical performance metrics in the Logistics organization, proactively resolves problems, introduces best practices, and fosters positive change as required.
  • Confronts complex operational issues, determines solutions, and influences cross functional team members to implement changes on a timely basis.
  • Ensures best practices are shared and reapplied, with an emphasis on standardization.
  • Audits network compliance to expected standard processes and drives action planning closure.
  • Plans, builds, maintains, and improves Logistics tools to continually improve service excellence.
  • Ability to quickly learn and use a variety of system tools. Individual will need to develop significant expertise in multiple systems that are critical to analyzing and influencing the daily Distribution business.
  • Ability to manage internal end to end supply chain interdependencies between Real Estate planning, Sales, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Deployment Planning, Master data, and Customer Supply Chain.
  • Leads and drives broad based network trouble shooting and variance analysis, leading root-causing and data correlation techniques.
  • Coach and develop talent by assessing strengths and development needs by giving timely feedback and coaching.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; preferably in Logistics, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related.
  • 8+ years of CPG experience required; with a concentration in Logistics and Supply Chain proficiencies preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of end-to-end supply chain strategy is fundamental to this challenging role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA/MS preferred.  
  • Experience with SAP ECC, SAP APO, SAP IM, WMS systems (i.e SAP / JDA) preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing operations with the storage and handling of food grade / regulated products.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing Logistics Operations in a highly seasonal / variable volume business.
  • Strong financial understanding and ability to understand key business concepts.
  • Ability to interface & influence with broad cross-functional groups to obtain and understand needed data and obtain buy-in for recommendations.
  • Ability to integrate multiple work-streams to form a holistic strategy for the supply chain.
  • Ability to perform detailed analysis and draw conclusions from complex data, dealing with a high degree of future uncertainty.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between 

$105,000-$172,200

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
