Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits is currently seeking a Commercial Finance Manager. This position reports to the Director of Commercial Finance and will provide financial leadership and analytical support to the Central business unit general manager (GM) and support the sales organization in the management of profitability and financial analytics. The position will lead all financial planning activities of the business unit as well as all financial measurement and tracking of profitability and spending to ensure a no surprise environment.

Location flexible – can work remotely. The ideal candidate will take ownership of the following role responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Serving as first point of contact for all questions related to Business Unit (BU) financial performance – requires regular communication and collaboration with GM, Regional Managers (RM)s and District Managers (DM). Serve as financial liaison to Corporate Finance Team and Commercial Marketing.
  • Take the lead in coordinating all budgeting and planning activities within the business unit, including distributor financial commitment to DFWS brands.
  • P&L Management – conduct regular P&L reviews with GMs and RMs, updating the team on YTD results including risk & opportunities identification and mitigation.
  • Assist in the management/tracking of spend, ensuring accurate and timely processing, tracking and reporting.
  • Assist the RMs in conducting program forecasting/tracking and analysis/spending effectiveness (ROI.)
  • Work with the Director of Pricing and the RMs on price optimization initiatives.
  • Deliver business unit level ad hoc financial needs.
  • Work with the Business Unit GM in financial resource investment optimization across markets.
  • Ensure consistency and simplicity of all financial tools to include budgeting, planning and reporting.
  • Lead/Support Commercial team process and system improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Education: BS/BA degree in Finance/Accounting required, MBA Preferred
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills required.  Ability to analyze data for key insights
  • Minimum seven years of experience in financial analysis/planning within a consumer products organization supporting a sales and/or marketing function
  • industry experience preferred.
  • Outstanding leadership skills; ability to use influence to build consensus.
  • Must be adept at managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Must be a self-motivated individual who can identify issues/opportunities for improvement and be proactive in addressing them.  
  • Communication skills are critical, both verbal and written
  • Ability to think creatively to provide management with alternative solutions and recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate cross functionally and develop strong relationships.
  • Must be open to travel within the Central region and to corporate office in Stamford, CT, as needed
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Cognos experience a plus.
