Job description

What we do

At Perlego, there are over 100 of us working hard to make education accessible to all. In this digital age, we believe that anyone should be able to learn anything at any time. Knowledge should be more accessible, not locked behind sky-high price tags.

Over the past 5 years, our goal has been to support students across the UK & Europe to access quality books. The next stage of Perlego is twofold: 1) expand our support to students globally, and 2) build a product that goes beyond the book, a platform that helps students study smarter and more effectively.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic FP&A Lead to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in solving complex business challenges, with an ability to develop revenue forecasts, manage pricing strategies, and support long-term financial planning.

This role is an opportunity to get involved with shaping our business - you will provide strategic financial insights across all business areas, ensuring comprehensive support for our company’s growth and financial health.

Ideally you will be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and have experience building financial models and processes from scratch. You will also have a strong commercial acumen and the ability to easily discuss complex financial concepts.

How we work together
  • Collaboration: you will work closely with the Finance Director and the Financial Controller, acting as a strategic partner and supporting business functions across both channels (B2B and DTC).
  • Communication: You'll regularly interact with senior leadership, department heads, and technical teams to provide financial insights and drive strategic decisions.
  • Innovation: We value new ideas and will both encourage and expect you to propose and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability within our financial operations
What you’ll do:

Business Partnering

    • Provide financial analysis and strategic support across all departments, including helping teams with identification and creation of metrics
    • Develop financial models and forecasts to support revenue growth, pricing strategies, and market expansion
    • Collaborate with other functions, including R&D and technical teams, to evaluate the financial implications of their initiatives and business lines.
    • Develop and manage pricing strategies for various business segments.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

    • Support overall financial forecasting and provide detailed reports to leadership, ensuring alignment with company goals
    • Oversee financial reporting and performance management, including revenue, margin, and key metrics to drive decision-making
    • Conduct scenario-based analysis to support strategic planning and decision-making across the organisation
    • Build and maintain models for ad-hoc requests and special projects, including financial analyses and ROI assessments

Data Management and Analysis:

    • Oversee the management and integrity of data across CRM, marketing automation, and other revenue-related systems.
    • Conduct detailed data analysis to provide insights and recommendations to leadership, identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
    • Develop, manage, and optimise ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to consolidate financial data from multiple sources, ensuring high-quality and timely data delivery

Process Improvement

    • Leads initiatives to improve financial processes and systems cross functionally.
    • Implement and maintain financial processes across the company, including global standardisation, template creation, and group reporting alignment.

Requirements

Unsure if you would be a good fit for this job? Please get in touch anyway, we are open to candidates that don’t exactly fit our requirements, or could bring other things to the team

It’s perfect if you have:

  • Minimum 5 years in commercial finance, FP&A, Revenue Operations or similar roles, with significant experience in B2B financial planning and analysis.
  • Solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
  • Working with large-scale data and reporting tools and knowledge of SQL
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills. Own large projects that are highly visible to leadership team. Projects will require collaboration with finance and non-finance members, and will own business updates with leadership.
  • Experience in developing board presentations and financial reports

⭐️ It’s a plus if you have:

  • Experience with Xero, Hubspot, Thoughtspot or Causal
  • Previous experience working with both DTC and B2B SaaS businesses
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent) qualified or qualified by experience
  • Previous involvement in scaling businesses and implementing best practices in FP&A processes

What Success Looks Like

In 3 Months:

    • You have developed a clear understanding of our financial processes and are recognised as a key strategic partner across various business functions, contributing to company-wide financial planning and decision-making.
    • Complete review of financial models incl. revenue forecasting and pricing strategies to ensure aligned with strategic goals. Identified opportunities for growth and/or improvement and proactively driven these towards a decision.
    • You are confident and proficient with the internal tech stack. You have identified areas for system enhancements and have begun implementing improvements to support financial analysis and reporting.
    • You have contributed to the quarterly financial updates and provided valuable insights.

In 6 Months:

    • All financial metrics, including revenue, margins, and key performance indicators, are consolidated and aligned across B2B and other business segments. There is a unified approach to financial reporting and performance tracking.
    • Core financial processes have been standardised across departments, resulting in improved efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. You have successfully led initiatives to align financial reporting practices with global standards.
    • Proactively identify trends, opportunities, and risks to inform decision making.
