Your missions

Our client seeks to appoint a commercial solicitor to join their legal team, with a particular focus on commercial contract drafting and review, as well as data protection matters. This role can be based remotely in Malta, the UK, or Europe, or as a hybrid arrangement with access to offices in the UK.

The appointed solicitor will provide legal support to the General Counsel, based in London, assisting in the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts to deliver value-added services in a practical, concise, and cost-effective manner.

The solicitor will be part of a Legal and Compliance team that includes company secretarial, licensing, regulatory compliance, and information security functions based in London and South Manchester, alongside US securities lawyers located in New York.

Specific Responsibilities / Key Tasks:
  • Ensure the delivery of effective legal services to the Group, liaising with the commercial team to understand their requirements and provide timely, efficient support.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a variety of contracts, including sales, distribution, collaboration, support, licensing, data, and confidentiality agreements.
  • Provide general legal advice to company managers and employees to facilitate compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Collaborate closely with the General Counsel and other team members to ensure the legal team delivers effective legal services across the entire Group.
  • Proactively seek information about the business to better understand its various product lines, business divisions, and priorities to provide value-added legal services.
  • Work closely with the business to understand and help implement strategy through the provision of effective and timely legal services.
  • Attend regular legal team meetings, ensure clear communication within the team, and agree on prioritization of work.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new areas of law and practice while proactively managing portfolios of work.
  • Ensure that all commercial contracts are signed off in accordance with the relevant approval process.
  • Assist members of the business team in assessing and mitigating risk in commercial contracts.
  • Keep the Legal team informed of all material developments, flag major risks immediately, and attend regular review sessions to provide updates.
