The Marketing and Business Development Senior Coordinator or Specialist reports to and works closely with the Sr. Marketing & Business Development Manager focused on the firm’s premiere Intellectual Property and Litigation practices, building close relationships with firm leadership and key partners within the groups. The Sr. Coordinator/Specialist will work closely with the highly collaborative MBD Team, led by the Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer, to execute a firm-wide strategy and promote a proactive, client-centric approach to the firm’s business.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develops a thorough understanding of the firm’s practices, lawyers, and client base, with a primary focus on the Intellectual Property and Litigation practices
  • Supports client development activities that will further institutionalize the firm’s client base and grow top line revenue
  • Conducts research on prospective clients/markets/industries/competitors, prepares relevant materials, and tracks follow-up and outcomes
  • Supports lateral partner and associate on-boarding and integration
  • Researches and identifies sponsorship opportunities and manages relationships and logistics associated with conferences and sponsorships
  • Helps to manage events, including overseeing logistics, preforming pre-event research, identifying BD opportunities, and proposing opportunities for thought leadership
  • Prepares RFPs, pitches, and proposals by identifying relevant content, editing existing content, and formatting drafts
  • Helps track and provide monthly updates detailing business development activities and successes, including status of opportunities and upcoming activities
  • Works with the MBD Operations Team to ensure that practice descriptions, data sheets, experience lists, brochures, pitch decks, web content, and other marketing materials are compelling and up-to-date
  • Identifies appropriate matter tracking activities for the practice and ensures pertinent details are captured for easy output to proposal materials
  • Assists in formatting and disseminating client alerts and other email marketing initiatives
  • Collaborates with the PR Team on opportunities for attorneys to engage with relevant press outlets
  • Coordinates and drafts submissions for practice-related and attorney rankings, surveys and awards, including Chambers, Legal 500, Am Law rankings, Best Lawyers, Law360 and other industry-specific/geographic/attorney demographic awards programs
  • Occasional travel required
  • Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • BA/BS degree, preferably in a related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in law firm marketing, communications, or business development
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously and manage multiple projects while prioritizing assignments
  • Ability to build rapport and be responsive to communications with attorneys, professional staff, and vendors
  • Decisive and mature in judgement, while committed to the highest level of integrity and performance
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen, clarify, and share information easily 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to deliver under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Highly proficient digital skills, including in web-based research platforms and Microsoft Office applications, particularly in PowerPoint and Excel, as well as various document management tools 
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently, who enjoys being an enthusiastic and contributing member of a highly collaborative MBD team and culture
  • Experience working with law firm partners

Position Details

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, non-exempt level position. The final rate of pay and title will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, with a targeted hiring range of $49.00 – $60.00 per hour. The Specialist title and upper range reserved for highly qualified applicants. This position is currently available in our NY office location only and relocation is not provided for this role.
