Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer (Resque Containerization) for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in India. Our client is a cloud platform for business spend management (BSM) that helps organizations manage their spending, procurement, invoicing, expenses, and supplier relationships. They provide a unified, cloud-based spend management platform that connects hundreds of organizations representing the Americas, EMEA, and APAC with millions of suppliers globally. The platform provides greater visibility into and control over how companies spend money. Small, medium, and large customers have used the platform to bring billions of dollars in cumulative spending under management. The company offers a comprehensive platform that helps organizations manage their spending, procurement, invoicing, expenses, and supplier relationships. Founded in 2006 and headquartered in San Mateo, California, they aim to streamline and optimize business processes, driving efficiency and cost savings. The project: the team will work on Resque containerization and Container platform consolidation subprojects. Resque containerization: This project encompasses the migration of massive EC2 deployments running client's main Rails background processes into their managed Kubernetes environments (CCP). The main client's application has hundreds of different types of functions, requiring a new fault-tolerant framework, fallback capabilities, and detailed validation before these jobs can run on CCP. The development phase is underway, and the engineers joining the project will need to be onboarded on these new technologies, contribute remaining features and bug fixes, test automation, and support the automation and execution of the rollout on all our CCP clusters. Container platform consolidation subproject: the project has multiple container platforms, AWS ECS, homegrown Kubernetes, and managed Kubernetes using AKS and EKS. This project is designed to move existing workloads from ECS and homegrown Kubernetes to their customized flavor of managed Kubernetes known as the Container Platform (CCP). The client is forming a dedicated team of DevOps Engineers, Developers, and Quality Engineers to complete this project.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional technical experience.
  • Understanding cloud hosting with AWS.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and Argo CD.
  • Understanding onboarding development teams to Docker.
  • Understanding of building organizationally scalable CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions.
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools like Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or equivalent.
  • Experience in scripting/programming using Java, Python, Ruby, Bash, PowerShell, JavaScript, or equivalent.
  • Experience building developer-centric shared services platforms.
  • Experience deploying and operating immutable infras.

Responsibilities

  • Build automation to consolidate container technologies and migrate microservices from ECS & Kubernetes to the golden platform (EKS/AKS).
  • Build automation to help us migrate the monolithic Ruby on Rails application to a containerized infrastructure built on EKS/AKS.
  • Participate in the design/evaluation of new tools, techniques, and technologies.
  • Contribute to & build the architecture of the cloud platform and its delivery.
  • Develop tools and software applications using Terraform, YAML, JavaScript, Ruby, PowerShell, and Bash to grow the operational stack to the next level.
