Compensation:  $100,000 - $110,000 per year. You are eligible to a Short-Term Incentive Plan with the target at 7.5% of your annual earnings, terms and conditions apply.

Clinical Specialist (REMOTE, USA-West Coast preferred)

Job Overview: 

The primary role of the Clinical Specialist is to provide real-time clinical support and interpretation of results to Ambry’s clients.  The clinical specialist will remain up to date regarding Ambry’s clinical offerings and technology and be subject matter experts for clients calling in to discuss testing results, ordering options, or technology across all of Ambry’s product offerings. In addition, the clinical specialist will help support exome medical necessity reviews. 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide real-time clinical and technical support to answer provider questions through our live call transfer process. Support provider engagement through proactive outreach initiatives or results updates. Offer ongoing clinical support for maintenance accounts.

  • Provide complex clinical judgement decisions on determination of medical necessity as needed by the clinical data curation team

  • Recognize areas for improvement based on client interaction and voicing them back to management, including new test options, new gene inclusions/exclusions, training needs, process improvement, marketing ideas, educational ideas, and overall improvement to the Ambry brand

  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree or higher in genetic counseling, human genetics, or other healthcare field

  • Must have a strong understanding of the current state of clinical genetic testing, the advantages and limitations of genetic testing, and a desire to educate community providers about the utility of clinical genetics

  • Must have strong organizational skills, work very well independently, be able to collaborate and communicate with clients and internal team members

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Basic knowledge of various lab techniques (i.e. NSG, Sanger sequencing, etc)

Preferred: 

  • MS in genetic counseling preferred, board certification a plus
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a genetic testing laboratory or clinic site strongly preferred
