Role: Assistant General Counsel – Antitrust and Commercial

About the Team:

The Legal department has deep expertise in all core practice areas relevant to a global media and information company, including labor and employment, commercial agreements across all our businesses, privacy, intellectual property, M&A, litigation, corporate governance, compliance, media law and a variety of other specialties. The team is also responsible for the company's compliance program, including screening for compliance with international sanctions, enforcement of company policies—such as the Dow Jones Code of Conduct—and bolstering internal systems and controls.

About the Role:

This Assistant General Counsel role will primarily focus on antitrust matters, including compliance, investigations, M&A and strategic advice for Dow Jones' global businesses including OPIS. In addition to antitrust responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to support Dow Jones commercial teams in a variety of commercial and contractual matters, focusing on Dow Jones' B2C businesses including The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, MarketWatch, and Investor's Business Daily. The position will report to the Deputy General Counsel in New York, NY.

You Will:

  • Antitrust:
    • Provide legal advice on antitrust matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and commercial partnerships.
    • Conduct antitrust risk assessments and support antitrust compliance programs.
    • Represent the company in antitrust investigations and coordinate with external counsel as needed.
    • Monitor and analyze changes in antitrust laws and regulations, both in and outside the United States, and advise on their implications for the company.
    • Create training materials and conduct antitrust training for Dow Jones legal and business partners.
  • Commercial Contracts:
    • Work with Dow Jones' experienced commercial legal team to develop skills in drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, service contracts, and partnership agreements.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure contracts meet business needs and legal requirements.
    • Provide legal guidance on contract-related matters and support contract lifecycle management.

You Have:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law sc.
  • Admission to the bar in [State/Country].
  • At least 5 years of relevant legal experience, with at least 3 years antitrust experience, preferably in a corporate or law firm environment.
  • Experience implementing antitrust compliance policies and training programs.
  • Interest in handling commercial contracts and negotiations.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A dedication to ethics and professional responsibility.

Pay Range: $210,000 - $255,000
