Position Overview

This role is within the Creative Services team, which is part of the Distribution and Product Marketing department. The Creative Services team consists of a group of designers and media specialists who support the various areas of Penn Mutual's many field and home office communications and marketing initiatives. The Production Designer reports to the Creative Services Team Lead, and collaborates with all creative services team members. This role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Penn Mutual brand that follows proper alignment with brand guidelines while consistently producing high quality work. This includes having a working knowledge and understanding of the company, corporate brand, product and service distribution, and company sponsorships. This role will blend the artistry of graphic designer with the technical precision of production design. While creating compelling visual content 50% of the time, the other 50% will require flawless production and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and manages projects from creation of initial concepts through design/layout to release of production-ready files.
  • Develops images and layouts for a range of materials such as social media posts, blog articles, brochures, print ads, email, website content, video animations, PowerPoint presentations, and more.
  • Works closely with project owners, stakeholders, and other designers to prioritize day-to-day work and set up check points to ensure high quality control and project delivery in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with the Distribution and Product Marketing teams, other areas of the business, contractors/free lancers, and outside agency partners as needed on projects, ideas, and design consultations.
  • Focuses on delivering content that sets the appropriate tone which may vary based off the different audiences of Penn Mutual, mainly financial professionals and policyholders.
  • Involved in all elements of content creation, from brainstorming to final production and deployment.
  • Manage and update projects through a project management system (Asana) with the assistance of a project manager.

Skills And Abilities

  • Has a strong imagination and demonstrates a high level of creativity
  • Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot creative and technical issues while adapting to production challenges and changing priorities
  • Demonstrates strong design, layout, and typography skills for both print and web
  • Demonstrates impeccable technical/production skills including pre-press, proofing, and file preparation
  • Has a strong understanding of different mediums and their specific requirements, including file formats, resolutions, and color modes for both print and digital outputs
  • Must be highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office 365 (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
  • Working knowledge of After Effects and Premier Pro is a plus
  • Strong image editing capabilities preferred (stock photography, headshots, etc.)
  • Must have knowledge of graphic design tools including prototyping, web, workflow, and content management applications
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills for managing assets, maintaining file structures, and ensuring all components are correctly prepared for production
  • Able to set priorities and manage multiple projects at any given time
  • Effectively manages project timelines and works well under tight deadlines
  • Clear and effective communication, presentation and verbal skills; able to articulate design concepts, provide feedback and understand direction well
  • Has a collaborative mindset and is comfortable participating in brainstorming meetings or team discussions, but also work independently when needed
  • Works collaboratively with the entire Field and Marketing Communications team and with various stakeholders across the organization
  • Demonstrates assertive and proactive work habits and takes initiative to drive projects forward as well as confidently address professional growth and career goals
  • Demonstrates keen interest in new techniques, design trends or software and shares this back with the Creative Services team

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Graphic design or related field Required

Experience

  • Minimum 2+ Years Experience in the graphic design field Required
  • Experience with print and digital design and advertising Required

Base Salary Range - $60,000 - $78,000
