Job description

Data Networks, Inc., a subsidiary of ASRC Federal Holding Company, is seeking an Instructional Design Specialist to support a federal government client located in Silver Spring, MD. This posting is in anticipation of a favorable award of a Task Order to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA), National Ocean Service (NOS).

This is a remote position that can be supported from your home office.

Key Role

The Instructional Design Specialist will support Data Networks, Inc.’s NOAA client at NOS Headquarters, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (OCAO). The successful candidate will join a team of federal employees and contractors within the Workforce Management, Diversity, and Inclusion Division (WMDID) to assist the government in instructional design and curriculum development activities for the NOS organization.

The duties of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and design courses and curriculum consistent with adult learning theory for delivery in online learning, hybrid courses, and face-to-face courses.
  • Design and develop engaging, interactive, and instructionally sound materials that address various learning styles and are accessible to all NOS students.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop course content for NOS employees.
  • Design learning activities, assignments, and assessments.
  • Create computer-based training modules and storyboards.
  • Develop instructor’s manuals, rubrics, and other teaching tools.
  • Analyze, update, and refine existing online content.
  • Train and instruct in how to use learning technologies and work with technical staff to troubleshoot problems reported by users.
  • Write scripts for video and audio content.
  • Utilize current best practices in instructional design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1 or more years of experience in instructional design, education, or a related field. 4 additional years of experience can be used as a substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Instructional design and curriculum development experience at a Federal Agency is a plus.
  • Experience using the Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate (ADDIE), Kirkpatrick, or other instructional design and evaluation models.
  • Highly organized and punctual.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects in a high pace working environment.
  • Skill in using discretion and tact when dealing with all levels of seniority.
  • Ability to initiate action independently after having been given general guidance/direction.
