Title: Data infrastructure Project manager.

Location: Remote

Duration: 1 year

Part-time: Estimated 15-20 hours per week.

The Illinois Department of Technology (DoIT)'s State Data Practice is scaling their operations and is looking for a Project Manager to help in managing internal projects and assist with ongoing vendor engagements. The Project manager will focus on System and Process delivery and in general manage the internal projects accurately scoping requirements, developing project plans, defining goals and deliverables, creating detailed roadmaps, and organizing resources to reach project milestones for a successful on-time delivery. Some of the projects that this person would manage include enterprise platform implementation, new Workflow development, data infrastructure, and internal operational maturity projects.

Responsibilities

  • Determine and define project scope and objectives.
  • Works with core project team (such as business partners, vendors, and technical team) to develop a comprehensive detailed, actionable project schedule and work plan with clearly defined milestones and deliverables.
  • Assigns tasks to the team and develops detailed and accurate work schedules, project estimates, and resource plans. Executes, monitors, and controls technical projects from original concept through final implementation.
  • Track and report project performance against predefined metrics, taking corrective actions if necessary to ensure the project is up to date and project documentation is accurately recorded.
  • Manage potential project risks and develop strategies to mitigate them by monitoring risk factors, creating risk management plans, and coordinating the resolution of issues.
  • Create weekly status reports for all projects managed. Provide project updates consistently, communicate accurate and timely project accomplishments and overall project health to stakeholders via required measures and methods (such as status reports, metrics, checkpoints, portfolio reports, and scorecards)
  • Drive projects and tasks to completion.

Qualifications

  • 8 years of project management experience including infrastructure and data-related projects.
  • Good understanding of data operations considering infrastructure, and overall data potential.
  • Experience in successfully leading and delivering projects and programs on time, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Thorough knowledge of project management methods, techniques, and tools including MS Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in financial forecasting and modeling.
  • PMP certification
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to keep teams and projects on schedule.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
