NPPG has partnered exclusively with People*Strata on their search for Defined Benefit Administrators. As the embedded talent team for NPPG, we provide white glove service throughout the candidate experience.

NPPG (https://www.nppg.com/https://www.nppg.com/) is an independent third-party administrator (TPA) that offers employee benefits, retirement planning, actuarial consulting, and fiduciary services. We provide clients with customized and comprehensive solutions for medical, dental, and disability insurance as well as 401(k), pension/actuarial and fiduciary services. NPPG operates as a trusted partner to ~8,000 clients nationally.

We are currently looking for a full-time Defined Benefit (DB) Plan Administrator. This new hire may be fully remote within the US or is welcome to work on-site in our Shrewsbury, New Jersey headquarters. Regardless of location, this administrator must work eastern time zone hours.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own an assigned caseload of 75 to 90 defined benefit plans
  • Conduct annual regulatory compliance testing for both solo and combo plans
  • Review and communicate results related to the actuarial valuation process
  • Maintain turnaround time to meet clients' requirements and the department's timing standards
  • Review and deliver the participant annual funding notice and actuarial AFTAP certification
  • Review and assist clients with the filing process for the IRS Form 5500 package
  • Review and assist clients with the filing of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) and Comprehensive Premium Form for determining premium payments to comply with PBGC regulations
  • Review and communicate the financial impacts of the ASC 715 Pension Expense Calculation (including settlement transactions) and Disclosure Statement
  • Review and deliver benefit calculations and projected benefit estimates, including QDROs, RMDs and in service distribution benefits
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency with various software applications to become efficient in completing client assignments
  • Serve as a technical resource to Actuarial Analysts
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge of ERISA and FASB requirements
  • Develop proposal illustrations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Willingness to work east coast hours
  • Minimum 3 years with a third-party administrator (TPA) working in a Defined Benefit (DB) Plan Administrator position to include experience with all the following: administration of cash balance plans from start to finish, completion of form 5500, annual contribution calculations, defined benefit plan valuation, and compliance testing
  • Experience with Relius, FT Williams, Datair, or a similar retirement tool
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience successfully managing time, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate with others and work autonomously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to establish rapport and provide quality customer service
  • High level of organization and attention to detail
  • High school diploma or equivalent
