Job description

Since 1970, JN has proudly served the construction industry in Australia. In the early years, we operated as a small family business, specialising in structural engineering.

Today, with offices across NSW and Queensland, and around 85 employees, JN is a full-service multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy where our experienced leaders inspire and challenge you to grow. Our expertise extends across each of the major engineering disciplines, from Building Services to Structural, Civil and a significant number of sub-disciplines, including Traffic engineering, Sustainable engineering, and Remedial Work.

Reporting to the Queensland Design Manager you will be given the opportunity to be involved in detailed civil design and documentation on a diverse range of projects. In QLD, our employees have a hybrid working from home arrangement, and as a Civil Design Drafter you can be based anywhere in Australia with the expectation that you will be available to travel to Southeast Queensland (where most of our team and clients are based), if the need arises.

Our QLD Staff Enjoy

  • A competitive salary based upon years of experience.
  • Hybrid work with a people first approach of Working from Home.
  • A Banked Hours policy where time off in lieu (TOIL) is accrued to enable a flexible one day off per month.
  • Friendly team with strong values in safety first conditions.
  • Being part of a growing team.
  • A focus on learning and development.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Completing drafting tasks accurately and in a timely manner according to required deadlines following our technical standards.
  • Providing support to the QLD Design Manager.
  • Working in a collaborative and supportive team.
  • Showing product and industry knowledge.

Your Experience Will Include

  • Tertiary qualifications from TAFE (or the equivalent) in Engineering and Drafting.
  • Ideally 2-5 years of experience in Civil Engineering Design on Australian projects.
  • Being a self-motivated, technically competent individual.
  • Able to work independently but also comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and attention to detail.
  • Participation in a collaborative/team approach.
  • Experience and proficiency using our preferred software packages: AutoCAD, Auto Track, with an understanding of Civil 3D or 12D.

Your Desirable Experience Will Include Documentation Of

  • Roads, intersections and roundabouts, public domain road frontage works.
  • Residential, commercial and industrial developments.
  • Stormwater drainage, OSD and flood impacts.
  • Traffic, driveway and carparking design.

JN is where your ideas come to life. Let’s expand the vision, resolve the challenges, and make it happen together.

Please forward your cover letter and CV to jnqldadmin@jn.com.au .

This opportunity is available for Australian citizen and residents only. Prior to beginning employment, you may be required to complete a Psychometric test, a Microsoft skills assessment and a pre-employment medical.
