Project Description

We are looking for ownership focused AWS engineer that will help automate, structure and push forward back office services. The aim is to generally improve how back-office services are managed, tracked with parallel mission on creating and managing self-service portals.

Role Responsibilities

Support and lead improvement efforts on AWS front consisting of

  • Automating manual tasks around cloud and inside operating systems (Linux/Windows)
  • Designing, planning, and executing migration off of legacy infrastructure
  • Implementation/configuration of self-service portals
  • Work closely with team spread across Europe (Denmark, Finland, Spain, Italy)
  • Optimize cloud resources for maximum performance and cost efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and practices
  • Provide technical guidance and support in the adoption of new cloud technologies
  • Monitor cloud environments, performing regular performance checks
  • Prepare documentation on configurations, procedures, and environments

Must-have Requirements

Understanding of how big corporations work. Automation-wise this is almost greenfield project, however, policies have to be followed

  • Ability to analyze multiple ways forward regarding solutions to be chosen, ultimately presenting and providing option regarding best one
  • Experience with cloud automation and scripting (e.g., CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Terraform)
  • Know-how of ‘from-scratch’ setup of platform automation
  • Fluency with configuration management tools/scripts that can handle Windows and Linux servers (e.g. Ansible, Chef)
  • Experience implementing tools beyond simple scripting in languages like node.js, python etc. to support creation of self-service portals
  • Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes
  • AWS certifications like Solution Architect are highly appreciated

Nice-to-have Requirements

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities – (fluent professional English is a must, as you will be working directly with a client)
  • Ownership of whole solutions that are to be implemented and understanding how they fit into the picture

Business travel and its frequency

1 x per year to The Netherlands

Other Relevant Information Regarding This Position

  • 35% - automate almost from scratch management of AWS cloud (not only on AWS Account level, but generally AWS Organization).
  • 35% - automate almost from scratch management of operating systems (Windows and Linux)
  • 30% - support service managers team with technical expertise
  • Client is open to discussion regarding tools to be used, although this initiative is meant to evolve what’s there, not overhaul.
  • This is great opportunity to grow your hard-skills in infrastructure consisting of couple hundred AWS accounts and soft-skills, as you will be directly collaborating with a client
