Overview of Position:
The IP Engineer will be part of Speedcast's Americas team designing and deploying carrier-grade network services. The ideal candidate will have experience in large-scale network environments, preferably MPLS or SDWAN based. In addition, there will be a requirement to support the development and delivery of data networks and value-added services, utilizing the latest technologies over satellite and other select mediums.

What you will do:
- Support the AMES IP Engineering team in the technical stewardship of data network equipment, data transmission and IP related data services.
- Work individually or as part of a collaborative group to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve problems and incidents pertaining to IP data transit.
- Serve as an intra-company point of escalation for technical support requests, providing high level troubleshooting to resolve mission critical customer services.
- Assist in the engineering and deployment of Speedcast’s Global Network.
- Collaborate with Speedcast Network Engineers around the globe in the design and deployment of new services and/or enhancements to existing services.
- Participate as a member of the established on-call support team.
- Offer a professional collaborative approach across internal and external teams, as well as with vendors and third-party providers.
- Assist in the design and development of products that will enable Speedcast to continually outpace the competition with technology and innovative services.
- Assist in the development/refinement of the overall network design, network security and network availability.
- Develop detailed documentation and implementation plans that can be executed successfully, using best practices and sanctioned designs and standards.
- Tailor network management systems to support valid metric reporting and pro-active management of the infrastructure.
- Improve the availability and reliability of services provided across the network.
- Assist in the development of visualization and/or instrumentation that effectively depict the health and monitoring of services.
What we need from you:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in Network Engineering.
- CCNP or JNCIP certifications but may be substituted with equivalent knowledge and experience of routing and switching.
- Intermediate level experience and hands-on working knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIP and redistribution between routing protocols).
- Intermediate knowledge and experience with QoS techniques across different WAN technologies.
- Intermediate knowledge and experience with SD-WAN.
- Ability to use protocol analyzers, network sniffers and management tools, and other ‘tools of the trade’.
- Experience in Juniper or Cisco equipment in a network core environment.
- Experience with Next Gen Security devices such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower.
- Excellent technical and interpersonal skills with ability to work within and across organizations that are geographically separated (including work in different time zones and on call shifts).
- Ability to perform extensive analysis and generate reports that accurately depict the results.
- Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced, high stress situations in a professional manner.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Ability and willingness to work in an oncall environment as needed.
- Knowledge of Satellite/RF technologies and services will be a plus.
