Your missions

Chief Scientific Officer (Remote)

This is a truly unique opportunity for an experience an experienced Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) to join a newly incubated France-based biotech startup. As the CSO, you will be responsible for driving the company's scientific vision and strategy, overseeing early-stage product development, and leading a talented team of researchers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide scientific leadership and strategic direction for the company's in vivo, CART, gene therapy, and anti-viral vector programs
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency in these areas, drawing on over 10 years of relevant experience
  • Manage the company's research and development efforts, ensuring timely progress in early-stage product development
  • Secure funding through grant applications, investor pitches, and other fundraising initiatives
  • Build and maintain a highly collaborative, motivated, and solution-focused team
  • Define staffing and hiring plans to support the company's growth
  • Prepare and deliver compelling internal and external presentations on scientific progress, strategies, plans, resources, assumptions, risks, and data


Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant scientific field (e.g., molecular biology, bioengineering, immunology)
  • 10+ years of experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, with a strong track record in early-stage product development
  • Deep technical expertise in in vivo, CART, gene therapy, and anti-viral vector technologies
  • Proven ability to secure funding from various sources (e.g., grants, investors)
  • Excellent team management and leadership skills, with the ability to build and motivate high-performing research teams
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex scientific information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, start-up environment that emphasizes collaboration, teamwork, and rapid progress


Compensation: This role offers a competitive package for this entrepreneurial role, including a base salary, equity, and milestone based variable component in line with experience and current market demands.
