Utilities Network Engineer

Location Emley Moor (Shift Based)

About The Role

  • Complete planned works and maintenance on the full range of systems and networks within the operating environment.
  • Complete testing and measurements to ensure compliance with regulatory, industry and customer requirements.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operating policies, processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to the delivery of projects through the provision of technical advice, installation and commissioning support and service transition.
  • Engage with customers and build positive working relationships, Both internal and External.
  • Implement upgrades and modifications to existing systems and networks.
  • Maintain accurate records, documents and reporting of actions taken.
  • Proactive and Reactive Network Monitoring to provide Incident management for 2 nd Line services.
  • Respond to faults and service outages and complete corrective maintenance in line with Arqiva standards policies and procedures.
  • Supervise the delivery of 3rd party suppliers and contractors to ensure that specifications and standards meet Arqiva requirements.

Technical/Functional Knowledge And Experience Required

  • A working knowledge of Splunk, Log Insight, Comarch, SolarWinds, vRealize Network Insight, vRealize Operations Manager along with Cisco and Linux experience.
  • Computer Networks - knowledge and experience in the techniques and applications of computer network systems, ethernet and IP technology, network components, server systems, virtualisation, and remote access technology.
  • Continuous Improvement – knows and applies tools and techniques to drive improvements in engineering operations.
  • Regulation and Standards – understands relevant regulatory, industry and customer standards, including customer service level agreements.
  • Safety, Health and Environment- understands and applies legislation, policies and procedures relevant to role.
  • System Architecture - understands the principles of design, architecture, development and maintenance of Utilities systems and networks.
  • Systems and Equipment –experience of systems and equipment relevant to role such as RF systems and Data Networks.
  • Test and Measurement - able to conduct complex measurements, evaluate results and take appropriate action; maintains test equipment effectively.

The Person

  • A Higher Education or professional qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • An understanding of Service Management Processes to ITILv4 Foundation.
  • An understanding of Radio Access Networks, Regional Network Interface, Core Networks.
  • Strong knowledge of technologies involved in Radio Networks, M2M & E2E Communications, data collection & processing and management.
  • The ability to obtain SC Vetting within the first 3 months.
