Job Description

Location - We operate a flexible, hybrid working model with the candidate required to travel to either our Winchester, Chalfont or London office up to twice a week.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide operational support to Arqiva's video platforms and occasionally to audio and VOD platforms
  • Investigate and rectify live incidents both remotely and on-site often for tier 1 customers
  • Carry out detailed root cause analysis and solve issues that are raised under problem management
  • Carry out onboarding tasks such as launching new video services under planned works
  • Look after the in-life management of systems and carry out proactive software upgrades
  • Follow best practice in keeping up to date drawings and records
  • Provide technical guidance to other teams and act as an operational stakeholder to review proposals
  • Complete testing and measurement to ensure compliance with regulatory, industry and customer requirement
  • Provide technical leadership within the team, sharing knowledge and skills and providing mentoring support to other engineers and technicians
  • Produce work instructions and other appropriate tools and materials to support service and technical delivery
  • Engage with customers and build positive working relationships
  • Supervise the delivery of 3rd party suppliers and contractors to ensure that specifications and standards meet Arqiva requirement
  • Occasionally assist the design/build team with installation work if required

Required Expertise

  • Significant Experience in video and audio compression systems such as Mediakind, Harmonic and Ateme
  • Significant Experience in IP networking and video and audio over IP
  • Significant Experience of broadcast monitoring tools such as Dataminer, Bridgetech probes, TS analysers, waveform monitors
  • Working knowledge of power supplies, environmental controls, analogue and digital electronics
  • Experience in the use of off-the-shelf servers and software based systems
  • Some knowledge of media cloud technology would be advantageous
  • Working knowledge of digital principles in signalling, coding, modulation and multiplexing techniques and fibre optic communication

Required Technical / Professional Skillset(s)

  • Strong knowledge of technologies involved in Terrestrial Broadcasting and Satellite
  • DVB, IP networking, video and audio compression, DAB, VOD, Zixi, SRT, AWS
