Job description

Role Summary

Our client is looking for a knowledgeable and proactive Tax Analyst (IRS Advocate) to join their dynamic team. This role requires a deep understanding of US tax law, with a focus on supporting self-employed individuals through complex tax scenarios involving rentals, investments, payroll, and sales taxes. The ideal candidate will be adept at both written and verbal communications, responding effectively to IRS and state tax issues, and committed to the company’s core values of integrity, teamwork, and excellence.

SCHEDULE: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time (12:00 AM – 9:00 AM Philippine Standard Time), follows Philippine holidays

POSITION TYPE: Full Time

WORK ARRANGEMENT: Remote

Essential Functions

  • Respond promptly to IRS and state tax notices and inquiries via phone and written communications
  • Review individual and small entity (S Corps/Partnerships/C Corp) tax returns, especially for self-employed professionals with diverse income sources such as rentals and investments
  • Ensure accuracy in data entry and financial reporting by double checking data entry vs. documents, while being able to look for missed opportunities
  • Provide constructive feedback within the team and maintain effective communication with team members via Microsoft Teams. All client communication will go through US-based employees.
  • Facilitate direct coordination with the US-based team for training and meetings

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in the related field
  • Must be an enrolled agent or Certified Public Accountant
  • Extensive knowledge of US Tax Law, particularly with its application to self-employment and small business operations
  • Experience dealing with IRS and state tax issues, including payroll and sales taxes
  • Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft 365 applications
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with Lacerte Tax software
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote setting
