Job description

See yourself at Dataminr

As an AI Engineer, you will work closely with our Research Scientists and Data Scientists to train, build, adapt, optimize, and deploy state-of-the-art LLMs in Predictive AI and Generative AI applications. You will work on solving some of the most challenging problems in AI while building large-scale solutions that save lives. In this role, you’ll work closely with multiple teams in the AI Platform organization to deploy LLMs that improve state-of-the-art performance across different types of data (text, images, videos, audio, multi-modal, and sensor data), and that work at very large scale (processing billions of inputs per day). You will be expected to continuously learn and expand your knowledge in both AI and Software Engineering, utilizing and improving on the latest tools and techniques for LLM training and adaptation to leverage our large-scale proprietary data, compute and platform infrastructure, and domain expert input. This US-based role can be remote or based out of our New York City office.

At Dataminr, we are creating a team of talented builders, creators and visionaries to have a real-world impact on how organizations respond to fast-emerging events as they unfold. We are over 600 talented individuals, spanning seven global offices, united by our passion to use AI for the greater good and be agents of positive change in our company and in our communities.

We offer a competitive benefits package aimed at keeping you healthy and happy:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance plan options for employees, domestic partners and their dependents

  • Generous PTO, flexible sick days and remote working options

  • Paid parental leave and family forming benefits

  • Mental health benefits and support

  • Company equity (RSUs)

At Dataminr, we serve a global community made up of many cultures and strive to reflect the diversity of the world in which we live. We stand for social justice and we lead with empathy. We foster a culture of allyship, standing up for those who face systemic barriers to equality. We actively condemn racism and discrimination in any form.

We believe our differences give us strength. Our employees are empowered to be their best, authentic selves through various opportunities, such as our robust employee resource group (ERG) network, learning and development funds, and more.

The opportunity

  • Work with groups of Research Scientists, Engineers, and Data Scientists in the AI Platform organization and beyond, to deploy, build, adapt, optimize, and deploy LLM models in production at very large scale.

  • Design and implement API services, libraries, and containers to support our LLMOps lifecycle.

  • Optimize Deep Learning models including LLMs in training and for production (including use of specialized hardware), maximizing execution speed, while minimizing compute cost.

  • Work directly on all aspects of science problems with other teams: from inception, brainstorming, and reading of scientific literature, to data exploration and implementation of methods created in-house, and productization of these methods.

What you bring

At Dataminr, we value you for who you are. We encourage you to apply for this role, even if you don’t meet every qualification. Our candidates are reviewed on the basis of their skill and potential to succeed.

  • M.S. in Computer science. Ph.D. studies in any field is a plus.

  • 5+ years of experience as a Research or Machine Learning Engineer.

  • MLOps/LLMOps Experience: building, optimizing, deploying and operating Deep Learning models using PyTorch, including Transformers and LLMs, not just using APIs.

  • Experience working with Research Scientists, reading technical research papers, and implementing state-of-the-art methods in Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Knowledge Representation and Management, Vector Databases and Generative AI.

  • Expertise in Python.

  • Experience with Kubernetes, AWS, Databricks, Containers, FaaS
