Description:
Lead the costing function for all new implementations, monitors, and reviews existing operations, and recommends improvements and refinements to costing standards. Serves as the enterprise subject matter expert (SME) on costing standards and is responsible for maintaining the Trinity Health standard policies and procedures for cost accounting.

Provides oversight & support of the workflow & functions in accordance with level of experience, education & standards. Assumes an expanded role & increased responsibility including delegating to others. Participates in the development of & the process improvement of policies & procedures. Works closely with leadership to maintain efficient & effective operations to ensure quality in daily operations. May partner with leadership with the selection, orientation & performance feedback of the team. Works cooperatively to ensure that key customer needs are being met & achievement of operational & performance goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance/accounting or other healthcare related area
  • Five (5) or more years' experience in health care cost accounting/decision support, managed care, or reimbursement.
  • Five (5) years’ experience with cost accounting systems and development of Relative Value Unit based cost.

Additional Qualifications (nice to have)

  • Project management and project lead experience

  • Rare clinical / patient facing work environment.
  • Includes continuous work time indoors (subject to travel requirements) under temperature-controlled & well-lit conditions; may encounter occasional variable external environmental conditions.

ADDENDUM: Functional Roles

  • Lead the costing function for all new implementations, monitors, and reviews existing operations, and recommends improvements and refinements to costing standards.
  • Serves as the enterprise subject matter expert (SME) on costing standards and is responsible for maintaining the Trinity Health standard policies and procedures for cost accounting.
  • Trains and educates Decision Support (DS) staff and vested stakeholders.
  • Serves on special projects, such as process improvement work, which focuses on data acquisition and/or data integrity.
  • Provides routine development, maintenance, and communication of the Trinity Costing Standards including updates to Trinity Health costing standards manual (policies and procedures) for all business segments that include specific RVU methodologies to be applied by clinical area; standard/default assignments of direct and indirect departments; remap rules and underlying statistics and allocation rules and underlying statistics.
  • Monitors and reviews existing operations for compliance with Trinity Health standards with respect to direct and indirect classifications, detailed cost components, summary cost components, mapping of GL to detail cost components, standard remap rules, standard allocation rules, and RVU specific methodologies.
  • Collaborates with DSS analysts in the annual review of RVUs, Remaps and Allocations with clinical and operational leaders.
  • Conducts cost sessions with clinical and operational leadership. Leads group sessions, translates technical issues, & provide staff support on functional projects, assignments, and analysis.
