Job Purpose


We seek a highly driven commercial professional who will be responsible for the growth of the Financial Services Professional Qualification business, at BPP. The role will look to grow and then maintain revenue across a mix of existing and new clients.


The focus is on developing new business, re-igniting dormant accounts and then managing those clients moving forward to secure repeat business.


You will be expected deliver a world- class service to our clients, hit agreed revenue targets and develop strong relationships across BPP to help you do so.


Job Background


The role sits in the central Commercial Team and will report to the Commercial Director responsible for growth of the Financial Services sector. The role will also be firmly attached to and supported by the Financial Services School who are the owner and delivery point of all Financial Services Apprenticeships and Professional Qualifications.


This person will be expected to consultatively sell all professional qualifications based in the FS School, working closely with other relationship and account managers who hold the relationships with our Financial Services clients (mostly on an Apprenticeship basis). Your role includes working with them to find contacts and then unlock PQ opportunities within those businesses.


The commercial manager will also be supported by appropriate Programme Managers and tutors where necessary.

BPP has a strong emphasis on driving growth in Technology and Data programmes so there will be an expectation to open doors for those opportunities with clients.


Key Responsibilities:


  • To possess or develop a strong understanding of the Financial Services markets, BPP products and the commercial environment, to facilitate a strong consultative selling approach.
  • With a focus on selling Professional Qualifications, also to build a wide understanding of the BPP portfolio so that can you support meeting clients’ needs.
  • Convert pipeline opportunities, with a focus on recent BPP clients, through working closely with other BPP business development teams to leverage off internal resources and knowledge.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders including Institutes (ICAEW, CISI and CFA) to jointly work on new sales initiatives.
  • Further partnering opportunities include with Universities through the CFA University affiliation programme.
  • To be seen as a point of expertise for Financial Services Professional Qualifications in BPP.
  • Further networking across BPP including with Estio, Firebrand and DMI commercial people, to promote Financial Services Professional Qualifications.
  • To maintain a pipeline of opportunities and pursuits which are actively managed to conclusion. The CRM system, Sales Force, will be used to manage all opportunities.
  • To build fully justified revenue forecasts through the above activities.
  • Competitor monitoring/analysis and feedback to your line manager and the Financial Services School.
  • Effectively undertake any other duties as required.


Desired Skills and Qualifications:


  • It is key that you can demonstrate a strong background in sales/business development, ideally within the financial services education sector.
  • Can demonstrate a history of working to and achieving revenue targets.
  • Ideally a good understanding of working with Educational Institutes and preferably with CISI and CFA
  • Strong organisational skills, communication skills and a consultative selling approach.
  • Good team player and performer who thrives under stringent targets.
  • Passion for the Financial Services industry and for meeting client needs.

  • Experience of Access / Excel / Word & Outlook / CRM systems
  • Continuously improves professional and technical skills/knowledge.
  • Demonstrates awareness of & identifies goals for self-fulfilment / development, quality improvement.
  • Good time management
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional relationships within BPP and externally – networking within the business will be expected.
  • Willingness to promote management decisions & contribute to identified tasks.
  • Suggests & promotes appropriate initiatives/ideas which may directly or indirectly benefit BPP.
